I recieved a phone call this evening from an un-known number. The lady said that they were calling about a recent purchase I had made with my checking account and she gave me an incomplete routing number of 263007219... Then proceeded to ask me the rest of it... I happened to be at the computer and something felt funny about this call so i wanted to get as much information about these people as possible before even thinking about giving out that information over the phone.
I asked her a bunch of questions liek what was HER last name... She gave me an ID number: Her name was Joann Domonique and her ID# is 124. I asked the name of the company she said Travel Agents Direct and gave me 1-877-777-2709. She stumbled to tell me where she got my information but she knew my address and my name. I asked her what HER address was and she didn't know, she had to put me on hold and come back w / 11125 Park Blvd. St. Petersburge Florida 337702... Ok thats too many numbers in a zip code...
Anyways, I happened to be by the computer and I googled the name of the company and immediatley the link to this website came up and in big letters said SCAM... So I told her I wasn't interested. She proceeded to tell me that it wasn't about interest that they were giving this to me for free and yadda yadda...
I told her that if she needed those numbers for verification that IM the account number then that means that they already have that information and I need not give it to her. She said no we dont and I asked her where she got my informationa nd she otld me fromm a recent purchase in the last 3 years ordering froma catalog, web-site, or soemthing else.
I told her I dont order anything because I'm poor. I proceeded to tell her I didn't want to give the information over the phone and I wasn't going to and she kept saying different "glamorous" sentences trying to coax me and following it with" go ahead with that account number". I got all the information i needed and said no thanks and hung up... (there was alot more said)
Twenty minutes later I call the 1-877 number and pushed 2 and talked with a Jennifer Clemmons stating that i was calling "Membership Services". I told her I wanted all the information that they have on me deleted. She told me she didn't have any of my informationa nd I must have been contacted by the promotion department offering me a great deal. I told her they DO have my information because she has my name, Phone# & address. I asked her how they got that and she said it was from the purchase I made in the last 3 years.
That being said. I just moved into this house 2 months ago and I have not ordered anything online and I do not write checks. I called back a second time, this time *67 before the number And I got a guy by the name of Jesiah Bayer. I asked him where they got my information and he said from one of thier affiliates that I purchased something from... Im like ok who are some of yoru affilliates and he couldn't tell me that I asked him for more informationon his company and he gave me and address to write "corprate" and he gave me pretty much the same address but this time instead of St. Petersburge he gaveme Seminole Florida...
Also, he asked me what kind of promotion was I offered and I told him travel... He said the name of the company was Travel Agents GO Direct... A bit different than the information that I recieved from the person who called me "Joann Domonique".
I told him I thought it was a scam he said no mam it's not and I said Then get rid of my information. And hung up... They stumbled with thier words when I asked THEM questions and no information was consistant except the "scripted" lines they recited and repeated.
