Fairfield Resorts
Ripoff

We own one timeshare through "The Palms" in Orlando, FL and have not had any problems with it to date. But we bought another through Fairfeld Resorts in Williamsburg that is not good at all. We attend the presentation that was to take 90 minutes but ended up taking 3 hrs plus after we decided to buy took another 3 hours.

I can understand this, but after everything else we have gone through with Fairfield this is just another thorn. We at first declined to purchase but the reps. Told us that we could use the points to purchase hotel rooms for one night. We do a fair amount of last minute business traveling and so we asked if we could get rooms 24 hrs or less advance notice.

We were assured that that would be no problem. We decided that since our average monthly cost of hotel rooms was $150.00 that paying $145-$150/ month for this timeshare/points system wasn't a bad idea. We explained our line of reasoning to the Fairfield reps. And they agreed that it would work great for us.

One month later we tried to get a hotel room reserved and was told that we had to make reservations 60 days in advance. So what happened to the last minute - less than 24 hours notice that we have talked about when we ageed to buy it. Then the RCI partnership is very misleading. We were told that our 300,000 points could be used at the RCI website.

We also received a book that had RCI on the cover and had a points based system in the front, obviously a points based system through-out the book. We then transfered 159,000 points to RCI and were never told anything to the contrary. Now when we went to use the points we find out that that our Fairfield points are useless and that the 159,000 points that we transfered have been converted to one week in RCI weeks.

We are told that Fairfield points cannot be used with RCI and that we cannot transfer the points back to Fairfield. Also that the RCI book that we received with our welcome package is wrong and that we should have received a weeks based book. So it amounted to them telling us anything that would dupe us into buying knowing that since we failed to get it into writing that there would be no recourse for us.

We trusted a large company because we expect everyone to trust us. Trust and honor is something that we have and expect everyone else to have. We were very let down by this fraudulent sale. We were also told that we would not be charged interest for 18 months, I guess time will tell if they hold to that statement.
