In the summer of my family and I rented a house from the owners of La Vita Bella, 113A 13th Avenue North. Prior to arriving, I told the owner that we would be bringing a dog. She asked for a fee of $250 and an extra $250 as a deposit. Agreeing, as she seemed nice, I sent her a check and all was well.
The day before the trip, my brother decided that he wasn't going to be able to bring the dog, so it was just us humans. I let the property owner know that the dog wasn't coming, and she agreed to refund my entire $500. We spent the week there (remember, no dog) and had a good time.
A few weeks after the trip, I sent her an email asking when she was going to send the refund. About a week later, so told me that I was never getting a refund from her. When I asked why, she told me that she had proof there was a dog in the house and that I lied to her. Keep in mind, there were 11 people in the house, and all of us (including 4 children) clearly stated to her that there was no dog. So, unless, myself, my wife, my two children, a family friend, my brothers and their families all conspired to lie to this lady to save $500, she is simply scamming me to keep my deposit.
