Ripoff Made an unauthorized withdrawal on my checking account

On May 17, I received a call from Florida-Transport with them offering me all kinds of vacation packages. The telemarketer at the end of the phone said this was a 14 day trial, and that I could cancel anytime within the fourteen days, no questions asked. What influenced my decision to say yes was "free airline tickets" to the destination of my choice, with no strings attached or obligation whatsoever. So I said OK send the literature.

He then asked me what bank I banked at, and I told him the bank. For some magical reason, he recited to me the exact routing number at my bank before asking me my account number, which I gave to him.

Well, my literature shows up on May 26 along with a letter that included the condition: "You must call by May 31 to cancel or your account will be billed $149.00." By this time, I rethought the entire thing (after reading all the literature) and opted to cancel immediately. So, I called 888-612-2894 right away and chose the prompt supposedly used for cancelling. The recorded message said "thank you", and hung up. At this point I figured that was the end of it.

But that wasn't the end of it. On Saturday, Jun 4, I received a letter in the mail (dated Jun 2) from my bank showing a facsimile of a check for $149.00 that was taken out of my account by Florida Passport on May 31, five days AFTER I had the membership cancelled and it wasn't supposed to cost me anything.in other words, Florida Passport made an UNAUTHORIZED WITHDRAWAL on my account and cheated me out of $149.00! This is stealing! And it's not a joke, prank, or the least bit amusing. It's fundamentally wrong. I'm definitely raising this issue with both my bank and those varmints from Florida Passport. I'm going to have to get my acct # changed so they don't try to go after another $149.00.

I don't even know how they (Florida Passport) can sleep at night without having all this dishonesty on their conscience, if they have a conscience at all. Based on the other complaints I've read from other victimized consumers by this scam, I'm sure I'll get bounced around like a rubber ball in this one (meaning I'll get transfered, cut off, disconnected; you know, the whole nine yards) should I place a phone call to Florida Passport and confront them. Or, at the very least, if I do successfully get someone from the company on the phone, they'll set a new world's record in being defensive and/or have every stupid explanation there ever was to defend their wrongful actions.

Personally, I would never, in my wildest dreams, want to work for a company like that. I'd be too ashamed.
