My husband and I and two of our friends just returned from what was supposed to be a "dream" vacation in Ft. Lauderdale/Bahamas/Orlando. The trip consisted of 3 nights in Ft. Lauderdale at the Ramada Paradise Inn in Pompano Beach, a cruise on the Discovery Sun to and from the Bahamas, 2 nights at the Bahamia Resort, and finally 2 nights at the AmeriHost Resort in Orlando. First of all, when we arrived in Ft. Lauderdale, we had to go to a Welcome Center to recieve our hotel and cruise vouchers. This was just a ploy to try to sell us timeshares!
We refused and took our vouchers for the hotel and cruise. First of all, the Ramada Paradise Inn at 1350 Ocean Blvd was by far the worst hotel any of us had ever stayed in - the rooms were not properly cleaned (hair on sink, used complimentary shampoo, cockroaches, etc). They were damp, smelled horrible, and the staff was very rude. Second, the cruise was nothing more than an upgraded ferry boat that travels back and forth daily to the Bahamas. The meals included on the boat were horrible and they seat you at tables with people you don't know.
Third, the resort in the Bahamas was under renovation. It looked like a war zone! Fourth, when we returned to Ft. Lauderdale, the Ramada Paradise was booked (so much for our reservations). They managed to find us two rooms (the absolute worst in the hotel). When I tried to complain to the manager I was told that I needed to contact the travel agency as it was their fault they put us in this hotel.
Finally, the hotel in Orlando was, again, not a four star hotel. It was very noisy (karoke every night until 11 PM), the rooms smelled and were very humid (problem with air conditioner?). All in all, the trip was fun only because we all made the best of our horrible situation. I am trying to get our money back from Coral Beach Travel but you know how that goes.
This entire trip was a rip off for the type of accommodations we received. Also, the entire thing is just a marketing scam to try and get you to look at timeshares.
Obviously Coral Beach is in cahoots with Ramada Plaza Resorts as this package is almost identical to all the ones I have read so far. I doubt anyone will get their money back, but best of luck to all of you.
