December - My husband and I went to a GDV presentation last night in Lombard, IL which is in the Chicago suburban area. We were informed the presentation would last no longer than 90 minutes, however, after the initial presentation you are moved to an area with a travel agent that continues to pressure you into signing on to their program. We informed the travel agent that we were not interested and were told that the manager needs to sign off so we can get our airline voucher. After another 15 minutes of waiting the manager came to our table with a hard sell, even reducing the initiation fee. We stuck to our guns and left with the airline vouchers in hand. We travel quite a bit and now that our children have left the nest we no longer need or want a condo. We prefer to stay in a nice room without kitchen facilities, I'm on vacation why do I want to cook. The prices that were quoted for condos, resorts and cruises you can get on your own during low season or on various web sites. We have been traveling for years at affordable prices which I have found through our local travel agent and I feel that the initiation fee, yearly maintenance fee and additional fees imposed are expenses that do not benefit me, rather they only benefit GDV. Do your homework, save your money and you will be able go on a nice vacation on your own.
