United Confirmation # DEDGKJ - Travel from Kona, HI to San Francisco with connedting to LAX on 9/24 and return LAX to San Francisco to Kona, HI.
At arriving at Kona Int. Airport on Sept. 24, was told flight UA1054 had been canceled and could be put on San Francisco flight leaving 3 hrs later, but could not get to LA (no flights) and would have to catch a flight the next day. Flight leaving at 9pm would arrive in LA and took that flight. Had to rent a car to get home, as person dropping us off went to work. There was a nine hour delay and we arrived the next day. Plans made for 9/24 missed.
At leaving to return to Kona, HI at arriving in San Francisco, was told the flight UA1053 leaving at 9:05am had been cancelled and were told a flight might be available at 12pm, then 3pm, then 4pm and we left at 5pm.
This was a give for myself and a friend, I would like to be compensated for these inconveniences for both of us. We usually use a carrier that can fly from Kona to LA or another destination and have used United a number of time and never had this issue. We are planning another trip in October and would like to travel on United.
Please advise as to compensation available to airfare due to the significant wait both at departure, cost of renting a car to return home and return for the evening flight and the return with an 8 hrs wait. My email address is shantig@hawaii. Rr.com
