I was recently in Chicago, on my way back to Europe, and needed to talk to my wife. O'hare advertised a deal for $6.95 for 24 hours of Boingo connectivity. It also states that you can use it in other airports. I paid the fee as my wife and son were having a problem and needed to talk. It worked great.
Whether it was O'hare or Boingo misleading me, I do not know, but in a hurry I purchased the As You Go service and the service is clearly not as you go. They charge per device, per logon, per location with a $19.95 fee per connection in Europe. Needless to say, if I had known these details I would either not have used Boingo or I would certainly not have used Boingo once in Europe. None of this was made clear at the time of purchase. So, my $66 bill that arrived today (two charges for logging on twice in the same location with my tablet and again with my phone) was aggravating and has led me to the decision that I will never use Boingo again on principle.
The company knows you are in a hurry, hides their true fees, offers what seems like a great deal, only to take advantage of you later. Don't use them.
