Ski Butterbut Season Ski Pass Scam

Pt 2

We purchased the deal because:
Snow reports issued by skibutternut.com were always happy ;
100% open, all lifts operating, best conditions sunny skies,
great deals blah, blah blah.
(later learned their snow reports are hyped up
and some what questionable)

Boy did we get suckered in by their marketing frenzy.

We should have asked:
100% of what is open? Crud Snow? Man Made Ice Golf Balls? OMG.

After purchasing the season passes, we got an unwelcome surprise:
Skibutternut.com decided to close early March.
Not because of no snow, just no new Cash Customers.
We got RIPPED OFF!

The kids were devastated! The wife was peeod.
My sisters and her kids equally upset & outraged.

One good thing arose from getting Gypped of our 45 FREE ski days.

Skibutternut Season Pass Holders were entitled to:
50% ski ticket discounts at
Vermont's Okemo Mtn. And Jay Peak Resort.

We never visited Jay Resort, so in March we took a ride and discovered:
The Skiing at Jay Peak was Fantastic. Real Snow & Real Powder!

Jay Resort has a new base lodge & hotel, beautiful long trails,
a High Speed Sky Tram and lifts that were 1,000 pct faster than
Skibutternut's 35 year old chair lifts which are painfully slow.

This season, we cancelled our ski butternut season passes
and got 3 families to join in renting a house near Jay.

Altogether, we purchased 30 season passes from Jay.
Jay Peak has a proven record of having a long ski season.
Jay's is open from Oct - May compared to;
Ski Butternut opens late Dec – early March (if you're lucky).

Jay's season pass cost us just a few dollars more than skibutternut.com.
We think the money was well spent, and offers greater family value.

Here’s a crazy thought

We lost apx 45 FREE ski days — BUT
skibutternut.com lost 30 season pass holders, by referring their
guests to a ski resort with nicer amenities including;
indoor water park for the kids, ice skating rinks, championship golf and tasty restaurants.

Everything at Jay Peak appears brand New and Modern.

Imagine going from: a bare bones 1970’s Hyundai to a
shiny New 2013 Lincoln Navigator with all the toys. Get the Picture?

What was Ski Butternut’s Marketing Dept thinking?
Including 50% discounts deals to an upscale competitor?

Was Ski Butternut Smart or really stupid? You decide.

Hope this skibutternut review helps a few families
get better value for their vacation dollar and avoid
the buying mistakes we made by swallowing the FREE ski hype.
