We're posting here after speaking to other backpackers who had nearly the exact same thing happen to them.
We booked a PADI diving course with Alfred and Tatiana, the owners at Parrots Dive Shop and paid in full for the course only to have them deny that we ever paid. We spoke directly to them and they lied in our face about ever seeing us before, even as we had a receipt! We went to the police and they did nothing, and then told us that we owed the Parrots Dive Shop money instead! It was like they had some deal with the police.
At a hostel we just spoke to 3 backpackers who had the exact same thing happen to them! They also went to the police, but nothing happened. We reckon that whenever they don't have enough people booked for a PADI course then they cancel it and keep the money. What horrible people..
