My boat manufacturer suggested the Aqua Performance 2 step ladder. Cost of about $299. This ladder extends 32" (brochure 34"), but at the full extension the deepest boarding step is underneath the boat platform! This means you must hyper-extend your knee to reach the boats handles and pull yourself up! The step is very narrow and balance is difficult for even the youngest and fittest members of our family. Our guests struggle so much that it is embarrassing for them to climb up on our boat. The boat is a Shockwave 28" deck boat and the rear boarding platform is high above the water line.
Even so, Shockwave recommended a bad product and my attempts at resolution result in a bargain price of $250.00, plus labor, for a replacement ladder from Aqua Performance. I'm surprised there aren't more injuries to the knees and body from falling sideways while attempting to pull up on a very narrow ladder! Why do the boat manufacturers suggest such a bad product? Why does Aqua Performance continue to design and sell a really bad product!!! Don't believe there ads! It is not an easy boarding solution. 15 years of boating and boarding with no problem until this ladder!
