Waterworks Repair Ben Holcomb
Unauthorized overcharge

Waterworks Repair is absolutley the sloppiest ran boat mechanic/detail shop I have ever experienced. I recently had my boat up for sale and had some minor detailing that needed to be done. My current marina reccomended Waterworks Repair in Lewisville, TX. They just recently replaced Marine Max at Pier 121.

Ben Holcomb is the owner of Waterworks Repair and our first meeting he seemed to be a nice good ole guy. He gave me a quote for some small scracthes that needed to be removed along with some other minor repairs.

The total amount he told me was $1,500. I thought this was extremely high but again he came with high regards. So we agreed. I wanted the boat to be perfect for my buyers out of state. He assured me it would be. About a week or so later I get a phone call from Ben stating its going to cost closer to $2,000. I told him this is not what we agreed on etc...

We ended that conversation and they continued to work on my boat. Throughout this process I had several other small things done to the boat. Ben never will call you back when he says he will. You can't leave a message on his cell phone because his mailbox is full.

The two ladies who answer the main phone are the only decent people at the shop from my experience.

So, I continue to do my best talking with Ben and Kurt to have additional items fixed on the boat. Once I get the final bill for the boat there are several charges that I didn't authorize. One charge was for $28 worth of fuel and a labor charge of $48 dollars to put fuel in the boat! Evidently the boat ran out of gas on a lake test that I found about from the out of state buyer. I was never even aware nor did I authorize this charge.

They also replaced the anti siphoning valve. I was told by Kurt that it was a $2 part and takes minutes to install. I said go ahead and do it. Once the bill arrives there was no charge for the part but a labor charge for $238!! I called several big boat mechanic shops and they all quoted 1/2 hour labor to install. Waterworks labor rate is $95. You do the math. That dollar amount was never authorized by me.

So now it's time for my happy new boat owners to come pick up there boat from out of state. They two had a very hard time getting anyone to call them back from waterworks. They even sent an email 2 days before to Ben saying they are on there way and please have everything ready.

Once the buyer gets there the first thing he notices is the boat has not even been detailed, waxed etcc! He drove 13 hours straight to get there. Now, in the mean time for the past couple days I had agreed to pay what I authorized Waterworks to repair etc..

Ben, tells my buyers they can't take the boat because the bill is not paid. Ben finnaly agrees to lower the bill to my satisfaction. Obviously Ben lowered the payment because he knew I didn't authorize some of the charges.

So... It gets better... I get a call from the buyers wife and she tells me the next morning that Waterworks Repair lost both poles to prop the boat cover... She also tells me the cover was left off the boat for two days before they picked it up! It rained those last 2 days.

Now remember, Ben and Waterworks knew they were comming because they sent an email since Ben would not call them back.

On top of that, Ben is trying to detail the boat while the buyer waits and offers him a beer! Nice professional touch there Waterworks Repair!

The boat was never properly detailed and or waxed according to the new owners of there boat.

Waterworks is very unorganized, sloppy, overpriced and tried to charge me for work that I never authorized.

I would never reccomend Waterworks Repair.
