These Rip-Off artists are not on the up and up. I was on a month-to-month membership, with no minimum time limit. I was a member of this new gym for about a year, and after having time constraints, I decided to cancel my membership. I mailed the manager a written request to cancel my membership and terminate the automatic billing to my credit card.
Several months went by, and I was still getting billed. After three months, I called the gym and told them I had cancelled and to stop the billing this was not the manager, buy they said they would give him the message. I cancelled my credit card (unrelated to Golds issue). I received calls from the gym, and returned the calls telling them I had made up my mind to cancel, and my decision was final.
I thought the issue was over until I started receiving past due notices and phone calls from Twin Oaks Software, a bunch of thugs who do collection for Gold's Gyms in Rhode Island. I wrote Twin Oaks, and called them to advise them that I was no longer a member of the gym, and to stop the harassment. The harassment didn't stop.
So once again, I called Dave, the manager, and asked what was going on - this is now 6 months after my cancel letter was mailed, and I was told that my letter was received, but was not sent registered mail, so it was an invalid cancel request. I was speechless! I could not believe my ears! To end all this, I had to go to the gym, fill out an exit report, and PAY MY BALANCE, or risk having my credit report blemished.
Icing on the cake, I kept getting bills and phone calls from Twin Oaks, even after paying for 6 months of membership I didn't owe or use. One suggestion, stay away from these Jerks, they are BAD NEWS!
