Guthy-Renker - Core Secrets ripoff, deceptive marketing

I started yoga a while ago, and in class we were using the YOGA BALLS. I figured since they used them in class, I'd buy one and I'd start working out at home.

I had gone to a few stores and started comparing prices. I hadn't made a decison yet when I saw the infomercial with the CORE SECRETS offer on it.

I watched it for a while and decided to order. I ordered the ball which came with a pump and a DVD for $10 plus shipping. They then offered to send me two new DVD's every two months for $10 a video. I declined the offer, as I was just interested in the yoga ball. They said that at any time I could send back any DVD for full credit if not satisfied. I still declined.

Everything was fine, got my ball in and started working out. Two months later, I got a package in the mail. There was no return address on it, but since my birthday was in a couple of days, I figured it was for that.

So I opened it and saw that It was a DVD from Core Secrets and the bill read, "Your credit card on file has been charged. Total amount $47.50" I called them up and asked what was going on. They said that they send out both DVD's in one pack (read - single DVD case) to save on shipping costs. So I asked how the shipping on one DVD was $27.50. They then informed me that each DVD was $19.95 and that if I wasn't satisified I could return them, but if they were opened I couldn't.

I asked where in their contract did it say I couldn't return opened merchandise and what about the 30-day money back satisfaction guarentee? Turns out that there wasn't any on the DVD's. Then I asked her if I was paying for 2 DVD's and didn't like one, how could I return the one since they both came in the same packaging. They told me it was tough luck.

I told them that I declined the offer for more DVD's and couldn't understand why they sent them anyway. I also pointed out that I was told the DVD's would be $10 a piece. She said I was misinformed and there was no indication on my account of declining the offer. I told her to make sure my account was canceled.

I should have gone to the other place. It cost me almost double the price as it would have at other places. From $25 at a retail store to almost $60.
