I own a Weslo ProForm Crosswalk treadmill. This machine has a safety card, the size of a credit card, but a little thicker, that disables the machine when removed (makes it kid proof). I lost my card, making the machine useless.
I learned that Weslo was bought out by Icon Fitness. I called them to get a new card. Remember, this is a piece of plastic about the size of a credit card, but a little thicker. After going through a pain in the butt phone tree, entering my model #, serial #, phone #, ect, I got a real person. I was told the card was $4.99. I can live with that. Without the card, my treadmill is useless.
I was then asked if I wanted to buy 2 cards. I told her no. She tried hard to sell me 2. I asked her why. She told me, "you're gonna get stuck with steep shipping, you may want to buy 2, just in case." I learned that the shipping charge for this credit card sized item was $15. Again, I had no choice, these parts are not available retail.
I bought one and when it came, it came in a regular (long) sized envelope. The postage was $. 94, a far cry from $15. I called Icon and demanded to know how they could charge $15 for the equivalent of mailing a credit card. I was told that is their "shipping minimum" and also to not forget about "handling". Dont know your thoughts, but cant imagine there is a whole lot of shipping involved with an item this small. They made no apologies and pretty much told me that's the way it was.
