The book of the month club offers the same sort of deal that Columbia House, BMI, etc offer. Buy one book for $6.99, then they are supposed to send regular announcements. You can choose to buy a book each month and you have to buy at least 4 books to fullfill your membership.
I joined, recieved and paid for the first book. I have not received anything from them since. Then, out of the blue North Shore Agency, a debt collector, sends a letter demanding $24.33 and threatening to collect $24.33 per unpurchased book.
I have replied with a letter requesting proof of the debt per the Fair Credit Reporting Act. No reply.
Beware... Other book clubs seem to have the same MO
