Falsified freshness dating on meat with another label

About 2 months ago, my wife and I noticed an odor from every pork product we purchased from this particular supermarket. We threw out 3 of them (pork tenderloins at about $15 each) before deciding to stop buying our meat there.

Just last week we decided to give them another try and purchased a $10 2.4 lbs. Pork tenderloin. We froze it immediately and when we thawed it and opened it, we smelled a funny rotting meat smell. It wasn't as strong as the past ones but it was enough to make us suspicious that these meats we were purchasing were not all coincidentally bad. My wife noticed a second date label exactly over the original label so I was able to peel and scratch it off enough to see that the original date was November 18. The new date they had covered this with was November 28.

Assuming the original date was safe and correct, Associated Supermarkets have forward dated our purchase by 10 days - and this one was the least objectionable smelling of all the meats. We've been shopping here for over 5 years now but only recently have we noticed any problems with their refrigerated pork products.
