I hired a moving company using 123movers.com to locate it. It turned out to be a scam—they took my goods, and my money, tried to hit me up for more money, then vanished. I was one of many victims (check out the complaints for Moving Services) and there are many many of these moving scam "companies."
I learned the owner of Moving Services had run two scams before this, also advertised with 123movers.com, and has now started up a new "company" advertised with them. 123movers does not check out the companies it advertises and cannot be trusted.in fact, many of its companies have turned out to be scams in the past (check out the FBI's movescam web site or call the FBI and they will verify this). 123movers has a terrible rating with the BBB. It's a clearing house for crooks. The owners of Moving Services have fled to Israel and are now running another scam advertised with 123movers.
Since Bush deregulated the moving industry, it is very easy for scam artists to register their scams as bonded, licensed, and insured companies, no matter how many times they have defrauded people in the past. Then they abuse laws designed to help struggling legitimate businessmen to claim bankruptcy and start a new scam all over again when they have just pocketed money, offered no services (except to steal your possessions), and claim they are broke. If your moving estimate seems too good to be true, it probably is. The company that defrauded me turned out not to even have a physical address when the Miami police went to check them out. Be sure your company has a physical address that you can check out, a long-term membership and clean slate with the BBB (though watch out—Southeast Florida BBB is a bit of a shambles and the company that defrauded me was able to claim long membership and a good rating when they had just started up a new scam—the third in their series of four).
