Ripoff, fraudulent promises, refusal to refund money, poor service and info

I hired www.intelius.com to find my ex in regards to paper from our divorce. They were given a full name and complete, accurate social security number. I could have provided a DOB and even states of previous residence. They asked only for name and SS#

The report I received listed EVERY man by ex's name in a certain state. They obviously used no discrimination in relation to the social security number. Our former address was not even listed! T

There were none of the promised phone numbers. I called the numbers provided and reached 2 business numbers, a man who had never heard of my ex and one call in line for a major corporation! It was ridiculous.

In addition to the location service, I paid additional money for a nationwide criminal records check. Again, I received a long list of convicts that had absolutely no similarity to my ex, except for sharing the same first and last name.

I wrote and asked them to either narrow the search with regards to the social security number provided or refund my money. Thier only response was to say they were not responsible for the accuracy of the information (!), that they did not give ANY refunds and that I could research once for free (woohoo).

To add insult to injury, they overcharged my credit card from what the original receipt said. It was already a significant fee for an essentially useless service... If I had time to call and write EVERY MAN by ex husband's name; I wouldn't have hired them.

Their customer service informed me I was not overcharged, even when shown the original charge.

I find their conduct appauling. Finding this person is important to me. Unlike these people, I work hard and honestly for my money. I don't have it to just throw away. Imagine if I had been a child searching for a parent or some such scenario. It would be heartbreaking to deal with them. For me, it just angers me. I will be on every site I can find who will listen to say they are frauds, cheats, liars and ultimately thieves.

Thank you for providing this service. From now on, I will be here to investigate before I do anymore business online!
