When I had my power turned on for my new apartment I was offered the option to be transferred to a retailer that would get me the best possible Cable TV service for price. I wish I had said "no", and performed my own research for Cable TV to avoid the night mare that would follow. However, it sounded like a good deal, and I accepted the offer. From this offer came Dish Network, and I was provided a number to call to schedule an appointment to have the installation performed.
When I called the number it turned out to be a Dish Network authorized retailer named Satellites Unlimited, Inc. When I set up my appointment to schedule the installation, I was given a windowed time frame for a technician to arrive and perform the installation. At that time I informed them that per my lease I could only have a satellite dish installed on my patio. They told me that it may not be possible if a direct line of sight to the satellite could not be obtained. They also informed me that if a direct line of sight could not be obtained from my patio that I would not be charged and the contract with Dish Network would be null and void.
On the day of the install I waited during the four hour window provided for installation. However, no one showed up. So, I called and they informed me that I technician would be at my apartment in about an hour. I had organized my day around the provided window and had a lot of moving left to be in my new apartment. I asked my mother if she could wait for the technician to perform the installation.
While my mother was there they installed the satellite dish behind my apartment complex ignoring the instructions provided that I could only have the dish on my patio. I called and informed them of their mistake. They told me there was no way to get a line of sight from my patio; they would remove the equipment, and I would not be charged. I then ordered AT&T U-verse cable TV.
A week went by and no one from Satellites Unlimited had come to retrieve the Dish. My landlord complained and I call Satellites Unlimited again to remove the dish. Again, they informed me they would get it, and I had nothing to worry about. The aforementioned no-show and call back happened several more times until Dish Network started auto-drafting from my account.
By this point I was fed up with the situation. I had to call Dish Network and spend 3 hours on the phone to get everything straightened out. I was finally able to convince Dish Network to let me out of a two year contract that my mother signed and reimburse my funds. These people with Satellites Unlimited are terrible to work with.
