I hired All My Sons Moving to move my 76 year old mother from one Assisted Living Facility to another, a distance of approximately 3 miles. She had a small one bedroom apartment with a small living room, a bedroom, but no kitchen.

The movers showed up and had me sign a contract with numerous pages and told us we would have to pay for the time to read the contract. We signed the contract before reading the numerous details so the move could start. They would not give us, nor let us make, a copy of the contract we were made to sign.

They started to load her things in the truck, albeit very slowly. For this small two room move, it took them over 4 hours just to load the truck. They were moving very slowly, now we can assume that they were so slow so they could run up the bill.

After they finally got it loaded, they drove to the new location and informed us that they would not start to unload the truck until we paid them $1,068 for the moving and $218.75 for gas! That for only about three miles! My mother was very upset that they would charge that much for gas to only move 3 miles. We had previously moved her, with the same furniture for less than $600 total.

Finally, after much complaint, they waived the gas charges and started to unload the truck. The mover himself said that he always gets complaints from the customers about the gas fee, because the office doesnt tell them about it before hand.

They spent the first hour unloading my mothers things into the WRONG APARTMENT at the new facility! Once notified of this fact, they tried to blame it on us, but they had been told the correct location at the beginning of the move. It was their fault they loaded it in the wrong place.

Now, apparently, it was getting later in the afternoon and they were there even longer than they wanted to be there now. So they started hurrying and they started damaging things because of their carelessness. They put her bed together so hastily that had my mother laid on the bed, it would have fallen down. I had to help a family member take the bed apart and put it back together correctly. The faux fireplace was broken also, among other things.

At the end of the move, we again requested a copy of the paperwork we had signed. Our request was denied. This move ended up taking NINE HOURS, during which time my mother was very upset and didn't want to leave her things for fear of something else being broken by these movers.

Near the end of the move, because the movers were running later than they wanted to be there, they became belligerent to us both. We felt threatened and they then intimated that they were even going to charge us OVERTIME! This after taking their sweet time on the load out.

A similar move, for another women in the ALF, from a longer distance of about 20 miles, took only 4 hours. This company is the most in reputable company I have ever dealt with. When I lodged a complaint with their office, they told me too bad... So sad.

I have contacted the local BBB, Florida Consumer affairs and am considering filing a claim for elder abuse with the State of Florida. The office that did this was Jupiter, Florida.
