I have been a customer of COX Cable for about 8 years. I have seen their cable service rapidly go down the toilet. The customer service representatives you have to deal with are a joke they are rude, incompetent idiots who should not be dealing with the public. I had premium cable until they started on this digital cable kick. I had 3 channels of HBO, 3 channels of CINEMAX, 3 channels of SHOWTIME. They took away 2 channels from each package and didn't give me a discount.
When I asked about this I was told in no uncertain terms that there would be no discount or refund for a loss of channels. So, I resigned myself to having only 3 premium channels. Recently however COX has started making noise about taking away my SHOWTIME and CINEMAX and only leaving me with HBO. I was told that if I wanted those channels after they took them off analog cable I would have to upgrade to digital cable. I pay $60 plus a month now and would have to pay close to a $100 a month for digital to get what I already have. I was told this before I was inudated with COX telemarketer call so numerous that I unpluged my answering machine.
I have talked to people who have digital cable. What COX doesn't tell you that the signal below channel 200 is still the same analog signal that you had before. The only true digital is satellite TV. Also the signal for channels 62-72 is fuzzy or snowy or just plain unwatchable. Channel 13 a UPN affiliate is being overwhelmed by the local PBS station on Channel 14 it is totally unwatchable except late at night. I have complained about this and got the same company line" Everything will be fixed if you upgrade to digital" Which I can't afford. I thought this was limited to my area but after reading the other reports about COX Communications I occurs to me that this is just business as usual when COX deals with its customers. As soon as I can save enough money I am canceling COX cable and getting Satellite.
