I was hired in my goal was to control the shrink in the stores I managed and I had outstanding low shrink percents, during my management yrs I have suffered with the following issues and complaints: working in the store for 3hours without anyone else, without breaks, without a/c for6wks, without a tolet for 7 days, (they were decideing if it was corp or landlords responsibilty) we only had 1 restroom, I reported a dm's unethical acts and my life as a manager went down hill. I worked at one store that was being remoldel and workers were left into the store over night, the alarm code I was given never worked and the doors remained open 24/7 for 3weeks 10-17 people had access to going in and out of the store from 9pm-7am that store shrink was not good the second store I took over the dm asked me to run it she needed to let go of the manager in that store and I was told that the store was already at 67 thous short and the I would not be held responsible for it so I transfered to that store
The new dm, the new rvp, and the loss prevention all three men told me that I was in the clear and I had to stop the shrink and I did slow it down from 300.00 a day to 47.00 a day on inventory day the numbers were in and I got terminated for failure to protect company assests. Both stores are in very bad areas I called the police out 9 times one day and over a 6mos that i was in each store I worked over the 52 hours that they ask of you when you only get paid for 45 hours each week you are told to cut payroll and you have to work to fill in those hours they tell me that its policy to terminate a manager over 2 bad inventorys, I trained other managers, I promoted assoc, to management, I consuled on loss prevention, other managers would call me to take their deposits to the bank (3thous and more) the dm would call me to go help with inventory at other stores, I think they want to get rid of high paid managers to controll payroll. These men above me lied to me and i trusted them with my job on 3 occassions I asked am i responsible for this shrink and the answer was no they have the workdown reports of each month I had these stores and what the average shortage is I have been trying to handle this myself and I am getting the run around I was out of work for a month causing all my bills to be late and the late fees added. A compeling place to work is what they teach us but I feel like I have been picking cotton all these years, only 2 people can unload a 900-1500 pc truck, the ac is set for 72 degrees and most of the time it stays 80 we are in the south I would of never quit I didnt know anybetter way to work I kept hoping for the best and our best is never good enough several managers called me when they heard I was terminated and felt that if I got fired then no one is safe. I had goals of moving up with the company I thought I was almost there for 7yrs I pushed for a great inventory and the last two stores distroyed my hard work and the company i once believed cared hasnt been created yet, over my years I have worked 77-80 hours each week missing out on family time, my body aches I have had 2 surgerys on each wrist due to the work at family dollar, I now have neck and back problems, I have mingrans and nose bleeds I was told because of the heat in the store caused my headaches and noise bleeds, they set you up to fail and I dont belive that Howard Levine the coe knows how is district head leaders are being because it never used to be this way.
