I never received an invoice for the first quarter of so I naturally didn't pay Allied Waste on time. When I received the next quarter's bill, it said I owed about $100, $35 of which was for "service reconnection." I paid up, and they credited me for the services I owed, but never credited me for the $35 service reconnection fee. This mistake causes further late fees and penalties to accrue, but I didn't know about it until the next invoice came in.
I called and spent 45 minutes on the phone with them. They finally agreed they I didn't receive credit for the $35 payment, and offered to settle up for a little over $100, which would pay the account through the rest of 2012.
Then two days later they sent someone out who repossessed my trash can (that they own). I called the next morning to find out why, and was not only told there is an outstanding $8 balance on the account, but I was actually only paid through Sept. 30 instead of through the end of the year. They flat out lied to me.
The problem is, they are a monopoly in this area. You either do business with Allied Waste Services, or you haul your own trash to the dump. That's exactly what I will be doing come Sept. 30 as I plan to cancel my account and begin hauling my own trash. I hate hauling trash. I hate being ripped off even more.
This is an unscrupulous, dishonest company.
