[email protected] Malfunctioning software generates duplicate transactions and duplicate charges

On June 11 I used eProcessingNetwork's payment processing service to pay the examination fee for my professional licensing examination.in particular this was for an American Board of Surgery Qualifying Examination.

Although I only entered my billing information and submitted the transaction a single time, I received two confirmation emails, both referencing the same transaction ID on the merchant end but two different transaction ID numbers on the payment processing end.

Sure enough, my card was charged the $800 fee twice, and two pending $800 transactions are now posted to my checking account.

I notified the merchant to request that one of the transactions be reversed, but I also notified ePaymentProcessing Network by phone to let them know that I had experienced a malfunction with their software... This I did strictly for their own benefit and to perhaps prevent future problems.

I did manage to speak with someone on the phone quite readily and explained the reason for my call. His response was one of complete ambivalence.

He told me that whatever the problem, it must be on the merchant end. I asked him if he even cared that there might be a problem with his company's software, but he did not care. He was not interested in hearing one bit of information about it and made that very clear.

If you ask me, an online payment processor that is capable of generating two transactions of the EXACT same amount, at the EXACT same time, to the EXACT same customer, referencing only a single transaction number is completely faulty. One simple coding paramater change would interrupt a second transaction in such a scenario by restricting transactions with the above criteria from happening automatically during the time frame of say five minutes. Since they didn't want to hear that suggestion, I must infer that this company must have little to no interest in user feedback or improving the functioning of their product.

Clearly this company does not care that their payment processing software functions poorly and mistakenly charges people. They don't care even when I am putting the facts about it right in front of them. When choosing a payment processor, please do not use eProcessingNetwork.

Again, when choosing a payment processor, please do not use eProcessingNetwork.
