I received a call last December from Consumer Telcom stating that I was spending money on long distance and that using their services would save money. They said they would take off the "private number" i.E., not listed in the phone book and the in-house wire warranty. Then they offered the option to get reduced long distance fees.
I said, we don't use the home phone fort long distance any more - cell phone only. The person said, it was a low fee / no fee service so I was talked into accepting it. It turns out that they charge a hefty fee even if you make one long distance call (we had to fax something and the next bill had a $7.20 charge! This is clearly a scam...
