I purchased a heavy yellow gold 14 kt. Wide band in 2000 for a 1ct. Diamond that I had to keep replacing the prone, he talked me into a gold bezel also that would protect the diamond as well as the ring it self.
I took the ring back to this jeweler last month to have the bezel replaced as it had cracked from wear, I picked up the ring and noticed alot of gold had been hollowed out from the inside of the ring and the gold bar removed, he said he removed it to let light in fro the diamond, ya right, I also told him the bezel was tacked in two places and open space where dirt would get in and where before it was all filled in with gold, and aked him to fill it back in with the gold, I went to pick up the ring a week later, but was not finished, came back a week later and said what in the hell did you do to this ring, this is not the way it was when I brought here, this looks so tacky I won't even wear the ring now.
I asked why did you alter my ring like this, he said the bezel he used was longer and he had to remove the gold bar, etc. To get the bezel in, I said why didn't you cut the bezel down to fit instead of altering my ring, or better yet order the correct bezel to fit my ring, and why didn't you call me before altering my ring to get my approval.
I paid him $200.00 for the new bezel, and he removed alot of gold from this ring, it is not a heavy ring anymore and the mounting looks off centered, I told him he would never see me in his store again, so BEWARE of this Ripp Off Jeweler...
Now I am wondering if I even have my original diamond???
