I was employed by this company. And while the reason I was terminated is still a crock (which I will get to later), there are many reasons that I am filing this. I have worked so many different telemarketing jobs, some really fun (processing loan applications for mobile home dealers) some really crappy. But overall, I am good at what I do, and have always worked for companies that are on level. This place though... I should have known when I went for the interview, and it was a room the size of my bathroom.
I was under the assumption that the company had an actual call center, but instead, it was myself and a boss. Ok. So I started because finding work here is hard, and I was sat at a folding table with a computer from the 90s, with a stack of raffle tickets received from auto and home shows. The premise behind the tickets was people filled them out to win a possibly fictious gift card (the boss could not verify if the drawings were actually done or not), and by people filling these out, we did not have to follow the do not call registry.
The script was set up so that if the people were of higher income, we would say that they would receive plane tickets and other crap... If they took a 90 minute tour of a timeshare or development. High pressure tactics were used, and the boss even would say we were not soliciting in order to get past automatic telemarketer rejectors. During this time, I was supposed to been on payroll, but nope. Never even wanted to see my ID. The boss seemed nice at first, but I started booking more appointments than she did, and then she friend requested me on Facebook.
She was nice, padded our hours, and I actually thought she wanted to be my friend, so I accepted her request. Last night, she kept changing her mind about work hours, and acting strange. I figured it was because the owner of the company screwing her on her raise. This morning, I received a call saying I was terminated becausr the owner saw a post from two months ago stating my husband needed some green, which I was referring to a job (money is green...) I explained the post, and offered to take a piss test to prove I was being slandered, but nope. I was also promised my paycheck today, but nope.
So I emailed and quoted state law that says I am to be paid post haste, and they not only told me they do not have to follow the law, but then said, ok, pick up this weeks check tomorrow at the office. Fine... Then the cops came to my door, and now I have a restraining order against me for the business because I thrwatened to call the Dept of Labor. So, tomorrow, I am being met in a gas station parking lot to get my check. They wanted me to go to the office to get arrested. So, I have contacted the DOL and every other authority I can. And if you enter any drawings in Ohio and Xalifornia, beware of telemarketers pitching Stallion Springs timeshares and Woodland Park Estates building lots.
