My husband bought me a platinum engagement ring. Yes I said platinum. He paid close to $3,000 for it. I was very happy at first. When he paid for the ring it needed to be sent off and sized. That was fine and it seemed to be perfect.

About one month after my husband proposed to me my PLATIMUN engagment ring broke. Yes you heard me right it broke. The middle part of the shank (the bottom part of the ring) split. I was pretty mad about that but just assumed that is was because of the sizing. And you know what happens when you assume. My husband picked the ring up for me and when he gave it back to me I noticed that they didn't repair the ring the right way. Now my once beautiful ring was ground on both sides I am guessing to hide the crack.

The problem with that is now I had a dent where the split in the ring didn't fit back together properly. Now I was beginning to be angry. I could still see the line where the crack was, my ring now has a dent, and has been ground on so much that my actual wedding band no longer set flush up against my engagment ring. I took the ring back in to see if they could get the dent out. They did all right. They ground on it some more.

Wow, my husband pays $3000 for a platinum ring and these people are grinding off all of the platinum in hopes to cover up the crappy work they do. Ok, by now I am pretty much screwed so I thought that maybe when I take my ring in and have the set sautered together it will hide all of the flaws. Another mistake on my part. Since they ground off so my ring so much there is a gap between the wedding band and the engagment ring. If I wanted to try I could pull the bands apart with my thin finger nail.

I didn't accept the ring because at that point I was in tears and wanted my ring fixed. All they could tell me is that they could have the jeweler sauter it all the way around in hopes that would keep it together. Since I was there without my husband I couldn't get his opinion on things so I left the ring in their uncapable hands again. I called my husband at work while I was walking out of the mall and started crying. When he got off of work we went up to helzberg. After a lengthy discussion we left with my ring.

Oh, and while all of this is going on my husband bought me a diamond necklas from there. He bought it before all of this mess started happening so he didn't know better at the time. The necklas broke, not once but twice. Had I not been setting still enough to feel the necklas slide down my chest I would have lost it. I took it to be repaired and they sautered the thin chain back together. They sautered it back twisted to make matters worse. I was able to wear it for 2 days after getting it fixed and low and behold it broke again. I took the necklas along with my ring back up to Helzberg with my husband. They did replace my chain with no charge but they couldn't do anything about my ring.

I filed a consumer report against them with the Attorney Generals Office in Oklahoma and sent them a letter informing them what I did. The Attorney General was not my first choice. I did try calling Helzberg several times and also wrote a letter that got me no where. I am now wearing a wedding ring that I can't even stand to look at. It is no longer a symbol of love it is a symbol of a crappy store that doesn't stand behind what they sell. I only recieved a response after the Attorney General contacted them. I now have to be without a wedding ring while they have their main jewler look at my ring. With the luck I have been having so far I can't wait to hear what they have to say.
