Ripoff of new membership fee

Fleet CC took over FNANB Credit cards in April. I did receive a notification in the mail. I had a 0 dollar balance at the time. Because of that I did not open the subsequent statement in April.in May I opened the statement curious as to why I was receiving one at all.

To my surprise there was a balance owing. A membership fee of $25.00, plus a late fee of $39.00. I called Customer Service to request the fee be removed along with the late fee, and to cancel my card. I was told they would.in June I received another statement with the membership fee and 2 late fees. I called again, and again I was told they would be removed. That was 2 days ago.

Today I received a call and a letter threatening to report me to the Credit Bureau. I called again, and was told that one late fee had been removed, but since I did not call within 30 days of having the membership fee appear on my card, that could not be removed. Even though the card had been cancelled within 2 months of the take over by Fleet, they would not pro rate a credit for that fee, I had to pay it for the entire year. I spoke to a supervisor, who stated the same thing, and when I requested to speak to her supervisor, I was told she was not available... Next class action suit?
