March 22 the on site manager of United, with 2 workers packed our things onto a rented moving truck to transport our 168 numbered items to their storage facility, (unknown whereabouts) until July, '11, when we called United with a delivery address.
Multiple phone calls were made by us to them only to find out they, United Relocation, had no truck of their own to drive cross country. We had to wait 2 months before anything got on the road.
Sept 12, 5:10PM. Somehow only 128 items, of the 168 we had sent, got literally "thrown" into the truck and delivered. I have the driver's name & number. Don't know the company name that took our belongings cross country to Florida. (The driver said he did not work for United Relocation. He was an outside agent hired by them.)
We were not presented with any papers at delivery, no manifest check off sheets, no receipt either, John, the driver, just wanted his money, first, before he unloaded at Aventura XTra Storage facility. They left all the boxes in the hallway on dolly's, instead of putting it into the paid-for storage space. Extremely unprofessional, sloppy paper work from the beginning, poor customer service, rare call backs. I thought I would never see our things.
I have two reputable witnesses, who manage & work at the Aventura facility, willing to give statements as to the disheveled condition of the truck and my damaged, torn apart, broken open boxes, with personal intimate items sprawled out on the filthy truck floor. The truck was a disaster.
By the time we counted everything, the driver and helper were gone. We, my husband nor I singed nothing. The original contract is also missing pertinent information... I have gone over it carefully with a legal adviser.
I took photos of the unloading and have copies for you (51 so far).
We were told to report to United's Claims department. I have all their info for you upon request. They received a full detailed report, and photo's, everything has been notarized with an affidavit attached. The postal return receipt, that they signed is dated 12/12.
My computer is missing, many pieces of electrical recording and transfer equipment are gone. Where the xxxx are my belongings? Several art items that were made for me, and personal one of a kind pieces of jewelry from the deco period, collectors items. A set of dishes and the silverware from my family is not found. And as I remember items I am making a list.
This is extremely poor quality business. I would like to see them loose their license and not be allowed to perform this service. Where are my missing pieces? No one ever called to say they found them, or were even looking for them! What about the empty boxes that came with our delivery with itemized numbers. What happened to the contents of those???
This is truly a Rip Off Operation. They scam you and rob you with a smile. Steer clear. Move yourself, put these people out of business.
