Ripoff abominable service, merchandise recieved not as expected, refused to correct problem

I hate Wedding World.

Now that my dealings with them are complete, I feel I can safely spread the news of their shadiness without worry of their retaliating by further worsening the situation.

In March of '02, I got engaged. I decided I would make my own wedding gown, but I figured it would be a good idea to try on some different styles so I knew what looked good on me, before investing hundreds of dollars in material and hundreds of hours in sewing. I decided to go to some local stores and try on gowns.

I had been told to avoid Wedding World, but since I wasn't planning to buy anything from them, and just wanted to see what looked good on me, I figured this didn't matter. So away I went to Wedding World in May or so (the Monroeville store...)

I have to say, they were very nice. Very helpful. Yada yada. And I found a gorgeous dress, fit me perfectly (except for being over-long, dresses being designed for those approximately ten feet tall, which I am not...) And they offered me a good price and I knew I could never make anything so nice or for that amount of money so hmmm, I decided to buy my dress after all... And since they were so nice, I decided to have my bridesmaids order their dresses from them as well, rather than off of bridesave.com which was my original plan.

Bad idea.

The bridesmaid dress I liked was satin, two piece, strapless... Had embrodiery on the bodice... And was supposed to have beading on the bodice, too, if all orders were placed by August 30th.

The straplessness, embroidery, and beading were important becase I wanted the bridemaids gowns to sort of match my own. I figured all my girls could have their orders in on time, and so I settled on this dress, gave WW the names of my bridesmaids, and said they'd call with or come in for measurments.

I was told several times that all the girls had to call or come in before the dresses were ordered, because this would assure that all the dresses came from the same dyelot, and terrible things would happen if all the dresses didn't come from the same dyelot.

Near the end of August, I emailed or spoke to all the bridesmaids, reminding them to get their sizes in... So as of August 30th, I knew all the girls had done so...

The dresses arrived in January, sans beading. "Our seamstresses can always put the beading on for you."

"Free of charge?"

"Well, no, you'll have to pay for it..."

I was rather angry, to say the least... But WW insisted they had never promised beading, yada yada yada... So I should have gotten this in writing... Etc... Not much I could do, not really worth having a fit over... So I said fine, whatever, and began making arrangements to have the dresses shipped to the girls who lived out of town.

I was told that my one bridesmaid had not ordered a dress.

I knew she had, as I spoke to both her and the store the day she ordered - her's was the final order and WW called me after speaking with her to let me know my dresses were going to be ordered. Her credit card had been charged, she had her receipt from WW.

No big deal, they would order the dress now.

But what about the dyelot? No problem, they said. The difference would be small.

No difference is small when you are paying $2000 for photographs. I was now being stuck with bridesmaids dresses which were A. Not what I had in mind when I picked themn out and B. Might not even match!

A fun little battle ensued, involving the BBB and the PA Attorney General's Office... I wanted WW to either put the beading on the dresses free of charge, refund all the money, or let the girls have the dresses for cost.

Nothing ever came of this, and partway through the battle I discovered I was pregnant, which would postpone the wedding, and then got sucked into another legal battle involving myself, the deed to my mother's house, and a certain lawyer. Wedding World rather went on the back burner.

But I am still angry at this little event, and all I can do is get as many people as possible to know not to set foot in Wedding World. Do not trust them. Do not shop there.

The fact that they know they need to check this site and offer rebuttals speaks volumes for their business.

Also, consumers need to know that Kaufmann's Wedding World in Wheeling, WV is *not* the same as Kaufman's Wedding World.
