On my son's birthday, October 30,1993, his day fell before payday. I knew he had his heart set on a X-Box and I didn't want to disappoint him. I called the local Rent a Center and was greeted by a polite willing to help you kind of associate so I felt good about my choice.
He somewhat went over the contract. There was a lot I didn't understand especially when it came to early payoff, which if I decided to keep this thing I would consider. When I asked if I could early payoff I was told I missed that option, I would have then paid well over 300.00 dollars for a 179.00 dollar system.
Since my son had no idea I rented this thing and the fact that I have already put in so much money already I decided to pay bi-weekly. Mind you when I finish paying this off it will be so close to 1,000.00. I am currently late with this payment by 3 days and I've been called at work everyday as well as twice a day at home.
Yesterday when I got home from work there was a "sorry I missed you" tag on my door where they sent their driver to come pick the system up. I called them today to explain the late payment, my car broke down and I was tring to peice together a down payment for another vehicle. But I would pay for this week. They refused, told me I'd have to pay for 2 weeks. How customer service oriented can you be after making five times what something is worth and being so arrogant about it?
I am lining their pockets not the other way around. They're definitely not doing me any favors. As a matter of fact if they would pick up the system while my sons home he'd be devastated.
I refuse to give them another red cent. When I get home from work today I am going to explain this to my son and take their crap back. No one deserves to be taken advantage of and treated badly too.
I'd rather sit in the middle of the darn street and rip up the 49.00 every month than to give it to some greedy arrogant company such as this.
