Deceptive signup practice by Angie's List

Angie's list uses a deceptive business practice, in my opinion. To subscribe you must first pay. It is only after you have paid that you proceed to a screen where you must agree to Terms and Conditions.included in the terms and conditions is an automatic renewal until the service is cancelled. If this condition had been expressed prior to payment I would not have subscribed or agreed to payment. The way their web pages worked, I cannot even proceed to dispute and cancellation until I check the box agreeing to the Terms and Conditions. This is at a minimum a deceptive practice if not a fraudulent practice. I disputed this charge with Paypal that had already deducted the charges from my account for the Angies list subscription.

How many others have had this experience where they simply went ahead and agreed to the automatic renewal of their subscription only after they had made payment because they were tricked by this sequencing for signup? Probably very many of the current subscribers have simply gone ahead and agreed to the automatic renewal. They all should get refunds, in my opinion.

To document this problem I kept screen shots of the Angies List registrationprocess.

This is a general problem with deceptive automatic renewal requirements for Internet services in my opinion.
