Angi (Angie's List)

Angi Inc. (Nasdaq: ANGI), based in Denver, operates the Angi, Angie's List and HomeAdvisor brands: homeowners find, book and review local pros, and pros pay for leads, advertising and memberships. This page sets out Angi's own cancellation, refund, Happiness Guarantee and lead-credit terms as published on October 5, 2026, the FTC consent order against HomeAdvisor (April 2023), the FTC and New York order involving Angi Services/Handy (2025) and a Vermont settlement (October 2025). Complaint counts from BBB, Trustpilot and ComplaintsBoard are shown as displayed that day; complaints and lawsuits are allegations.

Angi, Angie's List and HomeAdvisor: cancelling, refunds, Happiness Guarantee and lead credits, from Angi's own pages (checked October 5, 2026)

Angi's own pages, opened on October 5, 2026, set out the routes below. Angi (formerly Angie's List) serves two groups: homeowners, who can use the site and app, in Angi's words, "all for free" (its FAQ says its revenue comes from pros who pay to advertise, paid memberships and Angi Services), and service professionals ("pros"), who pay for leads, advertising or memberships. The posts on this site about Angie's List and HomeAdvisor are dated 2004 to 2013, so they describe older products and earlier terms (see the complaint record below).

Homeowner memberships. The Angi FAQ says: "You can cancel your paid Silver or Gold membership anytime. Simply log in to your Angi account, go to the Manage My Account page, and click Cancel Auto-Renew. You may also call us at 888-811-ANGI." It adds that these memberships "automatically renew at the end of their term" for one-year periods and that the card or PayPal account on file "will be billed on the last day of your membership". For Angi Key Membership the FAQ says that if you cancel before your next renewal you keep the benefits until the next payment date, and that "If your membership has automatically renewed and you wish to cancel and request a refund, you may do so within 60 days of renewing by contacting (888) 820-2644 or visiting our Help Center to chat with support." The same FAQ section lists a separate cancellation route for Angi Key: "Contact (866) 623-6088 or start a live chat" in the Help Center, or the "Manage Membership" link after logging in.

Angi's legal pages give different windows. The Angi Membership Agreement (last updated August 5, 2021, still posted in the Legal Center) says that if a paid plan renews automatically and you cancel within thirty days after the renewal date "you may request a full refund of the Membership Fee", and that "Members are not entitled to refunds of their Membership Fee under any other circumstances." The Key Membership section of the Angi Project Submission Customer Agreement (last updated September 18, 2026) says, in capitals in the original, that you will not be charged the fee for the subsequent period if you cancel at least three days before your next renewal date, and gives a contact-center link or a mailing address (HomeAdvisor, Inc., Attn.: Legal, PO Box 1122, New York, NY 10159). These pages are not identical, and the pages do not say which one Angi applies to a particular account.

Book Now (pre-priced) services. The Book Now Services Terms and Conditions (last updated May 7, 2025) say there is no cancellation fee if you cancel more than 24 hours before the appointment, a $25 cancellation fee if you cancel between 2 and 24 hours before, and the full Book Now Service amount if you cancel during the 2 hours before. A recurrent service can be cancelled "AT ANY TIME" through the Angi Services help center or by mailing a notice to Angi, Attn: Legal, 130 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46204, and the terms say to cancel more than 24 hours before the next appointment to avoid fees. The same terms state: "ANGI IS A PLATFORM THAT CONNECTS REQUESTERS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND IS NOT THE PROVIDER OF HOME SERVICES."

Happiness Guarantee. The Happiness Guarantee Terms and Conditions (last updated April 21, 2025) cover a "Qualifying Service", defined as a service by a pro matched through Angi that you "fully paid for through the Platform". If you are dissatisfied, the company will either have the service reperformed or compensate you the greater of the amount you paid through the platform or the damage you can prove was directly caused by the service, capped at $2,500 per Book Now Service and $50,000 for Angi Real Estate. You must report the issue within 72 hours after a Book Now appointment (email [email protected]) or within 60 days after completion of other qualifying services (phone (866) 786-8474, email [email protected], or online chat); otherwise the terms say the claim is ineligible. The terms list many exclusions, including losses covered by your own insurance (which is primary) and a claim where you hired another provider to remediate the work before reporting it. The marketing page says the guarantee applies when you "book and pay with Angi"; the FAQ says that for projects outside booking and payment with Angi it recommends confirming that pros are licensed, bonded and insured.

If you are a pro or business. The Pro Agreement (last updated May 11, 2026), between you and "HomeAdvisor Inc. d/b/a Angi Pro", says in its summary: "Will I have to pay for the lead if I do not win the job? A. Yes. You will pay for the leads you receive, even if you do not win the job. Leads are not guaranteed jobs." It says an account is cancelled by calling Customer Care at (877) 947-3639 (Angi's Help Center article "How to Cancel Your Angi Agreement", dated September 2, 2026, gives the same number, Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 8 PM EST) and, where the signed Contract has one, paying an Early Termination Fee; a cancelled subscription runs to the end of its term with no refund of the subscription fee; and a claim relating to a charge must be made within 120 days after you are billed or it is "deemed waived". Angi's Help Center article "How to Request a Lead Credit" (dated August 14, 2026) says a pro without an annual subscription can request a credit for a lead with invalid contact information, a wrong location, a service mismatch, a duplicate lead within 45 days or a lead charged while leads were paused, provided the lead is under 45 days old, you tried to call the homeowner within 24 hours and the account has no overdue balance; requests are reviewed within 5 business days, credits expire after six months, and leads where the homeowner did not answer or hired someone else are not eligible. The older HomeAdvisor "Lead Credit Guidelines" page says credits must be requested within 30 days of the charge. Because the two pages differ, a pro disputing a charge may want to cite the date of each.

Contacting Angi and complaint routes. Angi's Contact Us page lists separate help links for instantly booked services, services booked through retail partners and all other services, and says for general questions: "Give us a call: 1-888-811-ANGI". The Angi FAQ gives the same 888-811-ANGI number or [email protected] for Angi service support; for legal, ethical or financial concerns about a company it says to contact Angi "by logging in and selecting 'Send A Message' using our contact form", and it lists [email protected] for license concerns. HomeAdvisor's site asks complaints about professionals to [email protected]. For a formal dispute, the consumer Terms of Use (updated August 13, 2026) provide for individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association and a class action waiver, with exceptions that include individual claims in small claims court; the Pro Agreement provides for JAMS arbitration with the same kind of waiver. Outside Angi you can report to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, to your state attorney general (for example the Colorado Attorney General's "File a Complaint" page, since Angi is based in Colorado), and to BBB through the BBB profiles. Whether a particular term applies to a particular claim is for a court or arbitrator to decide.

FTC, New York and Vermont actions involving HomeAdvisor, Angi Services and Angi

FTC: In the Matter of HomeAdvisor, Inc., Docket No. 9407 (administrative proceeding; closed). On March 11, 2022 the FTC issued an administrative complaint against HomeAdvisor, Inc. (doing business as Angi Leads and HomeAdvisor Powered by Angi), which the FTC describes as "a company affiliated with Angi". The FTC's press release says the complaint alleged that since at least mid-2014 HomeAdvisor made "false, misleading, or unsubstantiated claims" to service providers about the quality and source of the leads it sells and about how often they result in jobs, and that its sales agents misrepresented an optional one-month mHelpDesk subscription as free. The FTC announced a proposed consent order on January 23, 2023, and the Commission issued the final Decision and Order on April 20, 2023 (announced April 21, 2023).

The order states that HomeAdvisor "neither admits nor denies any of the allegations in the Complaint, except as specifically stated in this Decision and Order" and, only for purposes of the action, admits the facts needed to establish jurisdiction. Its terms include: payment of $4,448,000 to the Commission within 8 days of the order's effective date, plus up to $2,752,000 more if the FTC notifies HomeAdvisor that claims against the mHelpDesk fund exceed $800,000 (the FTC's press release describes the total as "up to $7.2 million"); a "Leads Fund" of up to $3,200,000 for payments of up to $30 per membership; an "mHelpDesk Fund" of up to $4,000,000 for payments of up to $59.99 per membership; a bar on false or misleading claims about its leads, including, per the FTC, that they concern people who are ready to hire or who submitted a request for home services directly to HomeAdvisor; and a term of 20 years. On November 28, 2023 the FTC said it was sending more than $3 million in refunds, including 110,372 checks to eligible service providers, and 91,273 claim forms for mHelpDesk refunds, with a claim deadline of February 26, 2024, which has passed. The FTC's case page shows the matter as "Closed".

FTC and New York Attorney General: Handy Technologies, Inc., d/b/a Angi Services (S.D.N.Y. No. 1:25-cv-00122). This case concerns people who worked as "Pros" on the Handy gig platform, not homeowners or Angi Leads customers. On January 7, 2025 the FTC and New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a complaint and a proposed stipulated order. The FTC said the complaint alleged earnings claims "that don't reflect the reality for the overwhelming majority of workers on the platform" and a failure "to clearly disclose fees and fines". The New York Attorney General's release gives examples: a 2021 advertisement claiming Lawn Care Pros earn "up to $53/hr" when, it says, 10 percent or less of Pros in nearly all of those regions earned that rate, and "Paid Daily" claims when Pros were typically paid within seven days unless they paid a $1.99 fee. The stipulated order as filed states that the defendant "neither admits nor denies any of the allegations in the Complaint, except as specifically stated in this Order" and, only for purposes of the action, admits the facts needed to establish jurisdiction. The Justia docket shows the Stipulated Order for Permanent Injunction, Monetary Judgment, and Other Relief signed by Judge Jennifer H. Rearden on February 26, 2025, with a judgment of $2,950,000. On July 7, 2026 the FTC said it was sending 62,893 checks totaling more than $2.7 million to eligible people who worked for Handy between January 2019 and November 2024 (refund administrator Simpluris, 833-647-9063). The FTC's case page still lists the status as "Pending"; the Justia docket showed no entries after February 26, 2025.

Vermont Attorney General: Assurance of Discontinuance (October 2025). Vermont Attorney General Charity Clark announced on October 13, 2025 a settlement with Angi over the term "Angi Certified Pro" for contractors. The Assurance of Discontinuance, filed October 8, 2025 in Vermont Superior Court, Washington Unit (No. 25-CV-04397), states that before 2025 Angi's platform promoted service providers through an "Angi's Certified Pros" program, that Angi charged residential contractors a fee to become one, and that by September 2024 it promoted up to 389 Vermont "Angi Certified Pros". It records that the Attorney General alleges the term was an unfair and deceptive practice, and that Vermont requires contractors to register rather than be certified. Angi agreed to stop using "Angi Certified Pro," "Angi Registered Pro" and "Angi Licensed Pro", to direct consumers to government sources to check contractors' credentials, to notify Vermont residential contractors of the registration requirement, and to pay $100,000 to the State within thirty days. The text of the Assurance I reviewed contains no statement admitting or denying the allegations.

Scope. No other FTC, state attorney general or BBB National Programs action naming Angi, Angie's List or HomeAdvisor was identified in the sources checked on October 5, 2026 (FTC case pages, the New York and Vermont attorney general releases, and web searches of state attorney general and National Advertising Division pages); this was not a search of every state.

Who operates Angi, Angie's List and HomeAdvisor

Angi Inc. is a Delaware corporation. Its Form 10-K for 2025 (filed February 20, 2026) lists its principal executive offices at 3601 Walnut Street, Denver, Colorado 80205 and its Class A common stock on the Nasdaq under the symbol ANGI; a full-text search of EDGAR on October 5, 2026 did not return a 10-K/A for Angi for that year. The 10-K says the company was incorporated as ANGI Homeservices Inc. in 2017 in the combination of IAC's HomeAdvisor business and Angie's List, Inc., acquired Handy Technologies, Inc. in 2018, and changed its name to Angi Inc. in March 2021 when the Angie's List site and brand became Angi. On March 31, 2025 IAC completed a spin-off of its Angi shares; the 10-K says IAC "has no ownership in the Company" and that Angi "operates as an independent public company." Angi's FAQ says the company "started in 1995" (a company statement), and the 10-K reports approximately 2,300 employees at December 31, 2025.

How the business works (the company's description). The 10-K says consumers can access the network "free of charge upon registration" and that U.S. revenue includes "lead revenue for consumer matches, which comprises fees paid by Pros for consumer matches (regardless of whether the Pro ultimately provides the requested service)", advertising revenue from Pros, membership subscriptions from Pros and consumers, and revenue from pre-priced offerings booked through Angi. It says approved Pros generally need an average consumer rating of at least 3.5, that the owners or principals of businesses affiliated with Pros must pass "certain criminal background checks", and that Pros attest to state and local licensure. Angi's FAQ says background checks cover the owner of an Angi Approved pro, that Angi is "unable to perform a background check on every employee of a pro", and that pros labeled "Approved (Corporate)" are not background-checked by Angi. The Terms of Use state that Angi "does not endorse and is not responsible or liable for" content or services available through a third party or Service Provider.

Names and entities. Angi's documents use several names. HomeAdvisor, Inc. (d/b/a Angi Leads and HomeAdvisor Powered by Angi) is the respondent in the FTC order; the Pro Agreement is with "HomeAdvisor Inc. d/b/a Angi Pro"; Handy Technologies, Inc., d/b/a Angi Services, is the defendant in the New York case; and Angi Inc. is named in the current Terms of Use and in the Vermont Assurance. The 10-K also lists Angie's List, Inc., HomeAdvisor, Inc. and Handy Technologies, Inc. among the parties to a December 30, 2025 supplemental indenture. Angi's international marketplaces (HomeStars, MyBuilder, MyHammer, Travaux, Werkspot) are outside this page.

Recent company news. On September 22, 2026 Angi announced on ir.angi.com that Michael Steib would become Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Jeff Kip, and on September 15, 2026 that it would hold an Investor Day on November 17, 2026.

Complaint record: posts on this site and public profiles (as displayed October 5, 2026)

This site's archive. This site has 44 approved posts whose offender field names Angie's List (including spellings such as "Angies List" and "AngiesList.com") or HomeAdvisor. They are dated 2004 to 2013 (1 in 2004, 1 in 2008, 2 in 2009, 11 in 2011, 22 in 2012 and 7 in 2013), predate the 2021 rename to Angi, and are readers' allegations that we have not verified. Posts that only mention Angie's List or HomeAdvisor as where the writer found a contractor, positive reviews of contractors and posts about unrelated businesses are not counted. By keyword matching (a post can match more than one label): 23 posts use billing, renewal or cancellation wording, 21 use advertising or payment wording about contractors paying for placement, 25 use review or rating wording, 10 use lead or collections wording, and 5 use paywall or coverage wording.

BBB, as displayed on October 5, 2026. BBB profile for Angi Inc, Denver, CO (alternate names Angie's List Inc and Angie's List): rating A+ and "NOT a BBB Accredited Business"; 1.95/5 from an average of 2,141 customer reviews (BBB says customer reviews are not used in the letter grade). BBB's complaints tab for Angi is served from its Angi profile with an Indianapolis, IN address, which BBB says "includes complaints for Angi's headquarters and its corporate-owned locations"; it showed 1,778 total complaints in the last 3 years and 421 complaints closed in the last 12 months. BBB search results also show an older Angie's List profile, which was not used. BBB has a separate profile for HomeAdvisor, Denver, CO (alternate names HomeAdvisor, Inc. and HomeAdvisor.com): rating A+, not accredited; 165 total complaints in the last 3 years and 33 closed in the last 12 months; 4.6/5 from an average of 744 customer reviews. That profile shows three alerts; one dated April 12, 2022 groups complaints about billing and customer service into two categories: business owners and contractors alleging charges that exceeded the monthly budget they set or charges for leads they could not follow up, and consumers alleging charges above the agreed rate and contractors not showing up. HomeAdvisor responded on May 25, 2022 that its enrollment requires pros to agree to an "Agreement to Key Terms" stating that project leads are not guaranteed jobs and that standard leads carry automatic charges toward a monthly spend target; on May 26, 2022 it declined to provide the documentation BBB requested, saying it is "very confident in the process of pros accepting terms and conditions"; BBB records that as of June 13, 2022 the company had not responded to BBB's request about the consumer-side complaints. The profile also says HomeAdvisor encourages consumers to contact [email protected] to resolve disputes.

Trustpilot, as displayed on October 5, 2026. Trustpilot's page for angi.com is a claimed profile showing 2.1/5 from 7,042 reviews, 518 of them in the last 12 months (5-star 47 percent, 4-star 5, 3-star 3, 2-star 3, 1-star 42). Trustpilot notes the company has not invited customers recently, so reviews may not be representative, and shows that Angi replied to 98 percent of negative reviews.

ComplaintsBoard, as displayed on October 5, 2026. The "Angies List" page (updated September 17, 2026) shows 1.0 from 3 reviews and 305 complaints; the separate "HomeAdvisor" page (updated May 18, 2026) shows 1.7 from 7 reviews and 164 complaints. Both pages show a "Claim Your Business" button. These are user-submitted posts that we have not verified.

These figures come from different platforms with different rules and are not combined or averaged here.

Court record

In re HomeAdvisor, Inc. Litigation (Airquip, Inc. v. HomeAdvisor, Inc.), D. Colo. No. 1:16-cv-01849-PAB-KAS. A class action brought by home service professionals against HomeAdvisor, IAC/InterActiveCorp, ANGI Homeservices and CraftJack, filed July 19, 2016 and consolidated with No. 18-cv-01802. The docket and orders show: on January 10, 2024 the court granted in part and denied in part class certification, certifying nationwide, Colorado, Florida and Idaho "Misappropriation Classes" under Rule 23(b)(2) (pros charged for a HomeAdvisor membership who terminated it and for whom HomeAdvisor lacked express assent to use their names, likeness or trademark) and denying a nationwide class and nine state "Deceptive Practices Classes"; on July 18, 2024 the Tenth Circuit denied the plaintiffs' Rule 23(f) petition for interlocutory review of the partial denial; on September 13, 2024 the court granted HomeAdvisor's motion for summary judgment, dismissed Counts XLIX through LVI with prejudice and denied the plaintiffs' summary judgment motion; on March 11, 2025 it denied leave to file a second class certification motion; on April 2, 2025 the parties filed a joint notice of settlement; and on April 4, 2025 they filed a joint stipulation of dismissal with prejudice and the case was terminated. The settlement terms were not shown on the docket entries I reviewed.

Other dockets. A CourtListener API search for the case name "HomeAdvisor" run on October 5, 2026 returned 27 dockets; I reviewed only the class action above. The New York case about Handy Technologies is described under regulator actions.

The company's statement. Part II, Item 1 of Angi's Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (filed August 4, 2026) says: "neither the Company nor any of its subsidiaries is currently a party to any legal proceedings the outcome of which, we believe, if determined adversely to us, would individually or in the aggregate have a material adverse effect on our business, financial condition or results of operations. However, the outcome of such matters is inherently unpredictable and subject to significant uncertainties." It adds that, in management's judgment, none of the pending litigation matters the company is defending involves or is likely to involve amounts exceeding 10 percent of current assets (the SEC threshold it describes). Item 3 of the Form 10-K for 2025 says: "neither the Company nor any of its subsidiaries is currently a party to any legal proceedings the outcome of which, we believe, if determined adversely to us, would individually or in the aggregate have a material adverse effect on our business, financial condition or results of operations."

Is Angi (Angie's List) Legitimate?

Angi Inc. is an SEC registrant: its Form 10-K for 2025 was filed February 20, 2026, lists offices at 3601 Walnut Street, Denver, Colorado, and shows Class A common stock listed on the Nasdaq under ANGI. As displayed on October 5, 2026, BBB's profile for Angi Inc shows an A+ rating without BBB accreditation, 1,778 complaints in the last 3 years and 1.95/5 from customer reviews, and Trustpilot shows 2.1/5 from 7,042 reviews (details and the separate HomeAdvisor listing are in the complaint record).

Regulators have issued three orders or settlements involving Angi companies: the FTC's final consent order against HomeAdvisor, Inc. (April 20, 2023), the FTC and New York stipulated order involving Handy Technologies, d/b/a Angi Services (signed February 26, 2025), and the Vermont Attorney General's Assurance of Discontinuance (October 2025). Each is described, with its own no-admission language where it has one, under regulator actions; the first two concern service providers and gig workers rather than homeowners. This site does not rate companies.

For the pros listed on Angi, the FAQ says only the owner of an Angi Approved pro passes a criminal background check and that Angi cannot confirm licensing for every service; it recommends checking licenses with local regulators and doing your own research on the pros you hire. For concerns about a company listed on Angi, the FAQ asks people to use the logged-in "Send A Message" contact form. Separately, Angi's terms say it is a platform and is not the provider of the services, and the Happiness Guarantee applies only to qualifying services booked and fully paid through Angi.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I cancel an Angi membership and get a refund?

The Angi FAQ (opened October 5, 2026) says to cancel a legacy paid Silver or Gold membership by logging in, going to the Manage My Account page and clicking Cancel Auto-Renew, or by calling 888-811-ANGI; for Angi Key Membership it lists (866) 623-6088 or Help Center chat for cancellation, and says a membership that has automatically renewed can be cancelled with a refund request "within 60 days of renewing" by calling (888) 820-2644 or chatting through the Help Center. The Angi Membership Agreement (August 5, 2021) gives a thirty-day refund window after an automatic renewal, and the Key Membership section of the Customer Agreement (September 18, 2026) says you are not charged for the next period if you cancel at least three days before the renewal date. The pages differ, so note the date of your renewal and request.

What are the cancellation fees for an Angi Book Now service?

The Book Now Services Terms and Conditions (updated May 7, 2025) say: no fee if you cancel more than 24 hours before the appointment, a $25 fee if you cancel between 2 and 24 hours before, and the full Book Now Service amount if you cancel during the 2 hours before. Appointments can be cancelled through the Angi Services help center or by logging in to the platform.

What does the Angi Happiness Guarantee cover and how do I claim?

The Happiness Guarantee Terms and Conditions (updated April 21, 2025) cover services matched through Angi and fully paid for through the platform. The company will have the work redone or pay the greater of what you paid or the damage you can prove was directly caused by the service, up to $2,500 per Book Now Service and $50,000 for Angi Real Estate. Claims must be reported within 72 hours after a Book Now appointment ([email protected]) or within 60 days for other qualifying services ((866) 786-8474 or [email protected]); otherwise the terms say the claim is ineligible. The terms list many exclusions, including losses covered by your own insurance.

How can a pro request a credit for a lead Angi charged?

Angi's Help Center article says pros without an annual subscription can request a credit in the Angi for Pros app or a web browser for a lead with invalid contact information, a wrong location, a service mismatch, a duplicate lead within 45 days or a lead charged while leads were paused, if the lead is under 45 days old, the pro tried to call the homeowner within 24 hours and the account has no overdue balance. Reviews take up to 5 business days, credits expire after six months, and leads where the homeowner did not answer, hired another pro or is still shopping are not eligible. Annual subscriptions do not get lead credits, but the pro can call Customer Care at (877) 947-3639. HomeAdvisor's older Lead Credit Guidelines page says credits must be requested within 30 days of the charge.

How does a pro cancel an Angi or HomeAdvisor account, and what fees apply?

The Pro Agreement (updated May 11, 2026) says to cancel by contacting Customer Care at (877) 947-3639 and, where the signed Contract provides for one, paying an Early Termination Fee. It says a cancelled subscription can be used until the end of its term without a refund of the subscription fee, that a pro must pay for leads delivered before termination, and that a claim relating to a charge must be made within 120 days after billing or it is deemed waived. The agreement contains an arbitration clause and class action waiver, with exceptions that include individual claims in small claims court and claims for injunctive relief.

What did the FTC's order against HomeAdvisor require?

The final Decision and Order (April 20, 2023) in FTC Docket No. 9407 requires HomeAdvisor, Inc. to pay $4,448,000 to the FTC, plus up to $2,752,000 more if mHelpDesk claims exceed $800,000, to fund refunds of up to $30 per membership (leads) and up to $59.99 per membership (mHelpDesk), and bars false or misleading claims about its leads. The order states that HomeAdvisor neither admits nor denies the allegations except as stated. The FTC's complaint, which HomeAdvisor did not admit, concerned claims made to service providers, not homeowners; the FTC's claim deadline of February 26, 2024 has passed.

What did the FTC and New York allege about Handy (Angi Services)?

On January 7, 2025 the FTC and the New York Attorney General alleged that Handy Technologies, d/b/a Angi Services, ran advertisements with earnings claims that did not reflect what most workers on the platform earned and did not clearly disclose fees and fines. The stipulated order, which says the defendant neither admits nor denies the allegations except as stated, was signed on February 26, 2025 with a $2,950,000 judgment. The case concerns people who worked on the Handy platform; the FTC said in July 2026 it was sending 62,893 checks totaling more than $2.7 million.

What did Vermont's settlement with Angi over "Certified Pro" require?

The Vermont Attorney General's Assurance of Discontinuance (filed October 8, 2025) says the Attorney General alleges that calling contractors "Angi Certified Pros" was an unfair and deceptive practice because Vermont registers, but does not certify, residential contractors. Angi agreed to stop using "Angi Certified Pro", "Angi Registered Pro" and "Angi Licensed Pro", to point consumers to government sources for checking credentials, to notify Vermont residential contractors of the registration requirement and to pay $100,000.

Where can I complain about Angi or a pro I found through it?

Angi's Contact Us page lists help routes by type of service and a general number, 1-888-811-ANGI; its FAQ gives the same number or [email protected] for service support and a logged-in "Send A Message" form for concerns about a company. HomeAdvisor's site asks for complaints about professionals at [email protected]. Outside the company, the FTC takes reports at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, state attorneys general take consumer complaints (the Colorado Attorney General has a File a Complaint page), and BBB accepts complaints through its profiles for Angi Inc and HomeAdvisor. Angi's terms provide for individual arbitration, so a dispute about a charge may be resolved there rather than in court.
