The Super Wal-Mart in cannonsburg, Ky. Is charging tax for edible foods. Kentucky tax is charged for some food items however, not for edible foods.
This fact was brought to the attention of management at cannonsburg, Super Wal-mart but, they said that they have always done this and that was the end of that.
Strange that Wal-Mart our Super department store telling everyone just how much they can save if they shop in their's stores is charging sales tax on the very same items that both Foodland and Kroger's and all the other grocery store's in Kentucky don't.
If they are charging sales tax where is this extra money going?
Are they turning it in to the state of Kentucky?
Strange that they have to charge this on things these other store's don't and I doubt they are getting in trouble with the state of Kentucky. This makes me feel like they are maybe keeping the profits of the tax but, I really don't know for sure where this extra tax money is going. It has to go somewhere.
I don't know about other states and how they charge sales tax on food items but, in Kentucky if you can eat it there is no sales tax on it at grocery store's. Even Foodland and Kroger post signs telling people they don't charge tax on edible foods.
Wal-mart is our Super discount store where we will save money on everything we buy. Not!
