Access Van Lines
How to get ripped off by an 'moving' company

In June I looked for a mover to transport my goods
from Cupertino, CA to Brasil. I searched on the net and with movers123 I got redirected to several movers and Ron Carter from Access Van Lines was convincing on their
professionalism and their price was right so I went with
them.
The furnitures were picked up on July 11th and that was the begining on hell for us
pick up date: 07/11/03

Promised delivery: 4 to 5 weeks

8/18: I call Access Van Lines who's not responding emails and they tell me that the goods are still in NYC because supposedly they did not have a city name to deliver to, which is a very big fat lie since the contract specifically mention a move from California to Florianopolis, Brasil.
9/23: now I know the name of the vessel, the container # but... The shipping company does not recognize this number,
9/25: today after 4 phone calls I eventually got the name of the delivery company in Sao Paulo, only problem is that they are not aware of my move...
9/26: the boat may be in Santos, the container may be on that boat (Shipco who run this cargo (trip o017S) refuses to give information, now the Brazilian mover says that he cannot do a thing unless Access Van Lines talk to them and guess what... They do not return his calls.in any case the custom clearance will take at best 2 weeks! Feeling great!
9/30: the container was not on this ship, it was still in L.A.!! Now it's supposed to be on the Zim Houston III and that one will be in Santos Oct 15th. And it's not a joke! Now, we have a B/L #, we have a container #, it's going to be 3 months that our goods were picked up, and we still have nothing in sight. Still camping.
10/21: of course that boat never made it to Santos, it loops in the caraibean, so our container was transboarded to yet, another ship, now it's on the Marwan and will be in Santos on the 29th. I called the bastards at Access Van Lines, the movers from hell, and I asked for the paperwork for filing a delay of inconvenience claim. Answer from the idiot on the line, 'why do you want to do that? Your goods have left no? So why are you upset now?' I am upset because it's been 3 1/2 months and that you lied to me 4 times and that you did not and are still not doing your job.
12/3: the move as cleared the customs. It's now a matter of days before we receive, the next thing we don't know yet being: in what! #$%$ shape our furnitures are going to be after 6 months in a container, several trucks, I don't know how many boats. Btw, AVL, still refuse to send the paperwork for a delay of service claims. Delay? What delay? I am going after them via the DOT, the FBI and the office of the pope if needed. I want these guys to be out of business
12/9: the move has arrived, several items are broken to the point where you would actually wonder if it was not done on purpose (all the boxes with Fragile written are smashed and the boxes without marking are intact!)
now I can start the complaining and the procedures to get back at them
January the insurance company refuse to rembourse
anything, their re estimate goes systematically to a third of mine and at the end they claim that we are below a deductible that I never signed for and since their last mail
I have no signs of answer. Their name:
Nava Kugler, Adjuster
McLarens Young Israel Ltd.
Tel: 972 8 915 1222
Fax: 972 8 925 4388

I am also trying to get rembursed for port taxes that the initial amount paid to Access was covering and that I had to pay to unlock the move in Brasil

In summary:
- 6 months of waiting without assistance, feedback, calls
they hanged up on me several times when I called
- several items missing and broken and so far no insurance refund
- impossible to file a delay of service claim

The worst customer service experience I had in my life

The names of the persons involved
Shay, unpolite, rude and a fierce liar
Ron Carter, an excellent commercial for sure
Nathalie, a liar from another world

Nava from the insurance company, another good one

Daniel Biran, the boss, if this guy can still move something
in the future, there is a god for crooks.
