Concerned that my daughter and her family have been scammed by this company

My son-in-law contacted Real Movers LLC when he was inquiring about moving companies/obtaining quotes to move their family from Isle of Palms, SC to Lafayette, Colorado. When he contacted this company, he spoke with a man named
Patrick. According to my son-in-law, "Patrick told him that they could offer a "great deal because they actually had another family that was currently moving to Colorado and there was plenty of room left on the truck". They discussed
what and how much was to be moved, and Patrick informed him that he would also send the quote via email.
My son-in-law and daughter obtained the written quote from Patrick in an email for $1000.00 to which they agreed. They were asked to give a credit/debit card number to secure the move which was scheduled to take place on June 7th. Patrick advised them that they would need to pay 1/2 of the move up front, and the remaining half on delivery of their belongings to Colorado. They agreed to the quoted price, so my daughter gave this company her debit card # with the impression that $500 would be deducted from her checking account. The $500.00 would cover the agreed upon amount of 1/2 up front and the move was confirmed for June 7th.
All seemed well until the evening of June 2nd. My daughter was actually home sick when the movers (which were not scheduled to arrive until June 7th) had shown up 5 days early without notice.
Two Hispanic men arrived at my daughters home on June 2nd at 8:00 pm, and informed her that they "had to come early because they were moving someone to Colorado, and if they wanted the special price they had to load their stuff up now. Otherwise, it would cost a lot more."
My daughter called me and was upset because they were not prepared at all to move and had not finished packing. She was just getting ready to put her two young children (2 & 3 years old) to bed when the men showed up at her home in a Ryder Truck. And informed her that they were "the movers and were there to get their stuff".
As stated, the 2 men had shown up at her home unexpectedly 5 days ahead of schedule, and on top at that at 8:00 at night. However, they felt they had no other choice but to make the best of it and try to get it done since the truck was there and was on its way to Colorado. Due to this sense of urgency, they frantically began to pack up everything as fast as they could. She was ill and the children didn't know which way to turn, but they all made the best of a bad situation and rushed
to get it done so they would get the lower rate. They were told that the truck was on its way to Colorado, and since they were sharing the truck with another family they felt they had no other option but to pack up early.

The men loaded over 1/2 of their furniture/boxes onto the truck (which had someone else's furniture on it as well as seen by my daughter). Then one of the men informed them that the rate had "just gone up and now it would be $1782.00".
Shocked, they questioned the two men about the difference in price since it was almost double what they had been quoted by Patrick verbally and via email. One of the men told them that "if they wanted the rest of their belongings moved then they would have to pay for the additional space."
Under duress, they agreed to the new rate.

I asked her if they had signed a written contract and had taken out insurance on their property. She informed me that they had signed the contract with the movers, she also informed me that they had inquired about insurance with the men. She said that they told her that all of the property would be insured under the company's insurance, but denied them additional coverage when they inquired.

They signed the written contract with the movers and agreed to pay the "new rate" of $891.00 via her debit card. The movers continued to move the rest of their belongings on to the truck (including my grandchildren's cribs/bed) while the babies wondered around in a stupor until well after midnight when the movers left.

A day later, they get notified that they now need to send cash or a cashiers check, as the company does not accept debit cards as a form of payment??? They further informed them that their belongings had been taken to a warehouse in Atlanta (which meant that they were not en route to Colorado as stated).
Immediately, red flags went up all over the place for me and I advised her to not give them any form of money that can't be traced, as it is taking the shape of a scam. She sent them a personal check for the $891.00 to pay to move their belongings to Colorado as previously agreed in good faith and in hopes that they would deliver as promised.

Long story short...
They have cashed her check, still have their belongings hostage in a storage unit somewhere (possibly Atlanta?), and continue to give them different/conflicting delivery dates.
Today is 06/16 and they are now saying that it will be next week, or possibly the week after before they will get out to Colorado.

Everything they own (their furniture, clothes, toys, photos/memorabilia/baby books, etc... That can't be replaced) are in the hands of these people and my daughter is devastated that they may not see them again.

Due to the number of complaints against this company, and the fact that they have breached contract and flat out LIED, my son-in-law has contacted Fox 5 news.

They will be doing an interview with the FOX Investigative team in Colorado tomorrow, so hopefully they can get some help with this.
My daughter is planning to fly back to Georgia next weekend if they still do not have their stuff, and we will contact the news here in Georgia (as well as ALL surrounding states) about this company and these people.

I do not understand how a company (which operates under multiple names) can continue to victimize good people like this and get away with it.
Hopefully, they will do the right thing and deliver as promised at this point.
If they choose not to, then News crews and attorneys here we come!
