In good faith, Big Bertha's Towing of Coeburn, Virginia purchased advertising from Universal Advertising Associates of Cincinnati, Ohio. Subsequently we discovered their product is defective (outdated) and I demanded that UAAI return $176 immediately. We believe UAAI maps are in some instances over 10 years outdated and have caused an embarrassment from our customers. We believe that UAAI is derelict in their fiduciary duty to maintain reasonable accuracy in your product. We have a reasonable expectation that a map of our area would be resasonably accurate. We believe their agent, Mr. Bob Williams, represented no disclaimers to the contrary.
In addition, we believe we were deceived about the radio advertising on WAXM in Norton, Virginia.initially we were told by Mr. Bob Williams of UAAI, Inc. That the radio ad spots to promote the distribution of the map would be three radio spots a day for five weeks and that the radio spots would let listeners know where to pick up copies of the maps. As it turns out that was false. The actual advertisement schedule ended up being two times a day for three weeks according to the station manager, Mr. Willy Stanley of WAXM Radio in Norton, Virginia. This in itself represents a considerable change from what was promised
And finally, we were told that when 100 or more maps were needed as supplies ran down they would be promptly supplied. When the map delivery driver dropped off the product, in front of two witnesses, he said that UAAI, Inc would UPS the maps as soon as a request was given for replenishment. A few weeks later when the map inventory diminished, a phone call to Mr. Bob Williams was made about sending more maps. He stated the delivery driver was on the road and we would not receive more maps for at least two months. Here again, UAAI company's assertions are false.
In summary then, UAAI, Inc., maps are 10 years outdated; The UAAI sales representative has apparently made false statements about the radio announcement schedule; and UAAI sales representative has apparently made false statements about replenishment of the product when supplies are low. This is our justification for a refund of our money.
A demand for a refund letter was written to UAAI with no response. It's unfortunate UAAI can't publish a reasonably current product. It is also unfortunate UAAI sales staff have to resort to amplifying the facts in order to make a sale, then not following up on their promised word. We expect a prompt refund of $176. As this has not happened, our second course of action is in filing this complaint. A more agressive course of action will be initiated should UAAI continue to ignore this issue.
