On February 4 I received a bill in the mail for $508.63. I had no idea what it was for, and the company name didn't ring a bell. I called the 800# given and was told this was for a magazine subscription I'd signed up for.
Okay, I'm pretty sure I'd remember subscribing to $500 worth of magazines. I told the woman on the phone that it must be a mistake. That's when she became incredibly rude, said that I was trying to "ditch" a bill, and she wasn't going to stand for it.
I asked when the account was opened. She said March. What address were the magazines sent to? They don't have that information. How were they initially paid for? A credit card that now lists as stolen. Do they have my social security number, or any identifying info other than name? Nope.
I told her that I was requesting legal validation of the debt, as allowed by law. She didn't like that idea. Too bad, I'm doing it anyway. If they won't drop this voluntarily, I have NO problem taking them to court over it.
It's NOT my debt. I never signed up for these magazines, never heard of this company before. These people are truly bottom feeders.
