I purchased two leather chairs and an accent table from a Flexsteel store in Vernon Hills, Illinois. I paid $229 for the protection plan. The only thing I was given was a brochure for the protection plan.
When my accent table was damaged by spilled water, I pulled out my receipt and brochure only to find that there was no phone number on the brochure and no obvious name for the protection company.
I tried calling the retail store, only to find they'd gone out of business. I tried contacting Flexsteel, but you can't find a phone number for their corporate office on their website. I screwed around with e-mail to their customer service people for about a month and got nowhere.
I finally found the name of the CEO on Flexsteel's website and sent him an e-mail asking if he could find someone to help. The next day I received a call from someone at Flexsteel (I guess the CEO didn't appreciate getting e-mails from commoners).in any event, I wasn't home and tried calling the guy 3 times over the next month and recieved no returned calls. I finally zero'd out when I got his voice mail and asked to speak to a real human. This guy asked me to fax the brochure to him. He recognized that it was a StainSafe brochure and gave me their number.
I have repeatedly called these people and faxed information and have received the same response as I see many others have. I didn't file within 5 days of when the accident occured. Maybe if they'd included their number on their brochure, I wouldn't have had to jump through hoops.
I am now being told they will respond in writing in 30 days. So I have to get my claim in 5 days, but they have 30 days to respond. This is avoidance! I paid for this service and want them to make good on their promise. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was told their phones don't transfer. YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING! Do they think people are complete idiots?
I will continue calling and sending e-mails until this is resolved and would appreciate any help anyone else has to offer on how to resolve this.
