Quoted me $1400 for move then wouldn't unload it until i paid $2500 Rude movers asked for tip!

On March 18 we were provided an estimate for a move from Daytona Beach FL to Jacksonville FL by salesman Sigal A at Summit Van Lines. We were quoted $1400 for the move. This quote was given with the knowledge that the move would be from two locations (one in Daytona the other in
Jacksonville); additionally we specified that the first location needed to be completely packed because we did not have the time, however the second location, in Jacksonville, would be packed and just needed to be loaded and then unloaded. We were also told that we should buy our own boxes to save some money, so we bought approximately $600 worth of packing materials (boxes, tape, bubble packing, etc). Three movers showed up on March 29. The foreman was
very intimidating. As they were packing, loading and unloading, the men were extremely slow. After several hours, they advised us that the scheduled one day move would take two days. We contacted Sigal about the issue and were reassured that regardless there would be no additional costs to us, that we would only be charged for the hours stated in the contract. Because of the
extended time, we bought them lunch. When we arrived at the final destination they doubled the estimate to $2500 and wouldn't unpack our things until we paid the money. We asked to speak with a supervisor and the foreman contacted a supervisor named Guy Shoshanderg who was very sarcastic and insisted that they wouldn't unpack our things until we paid the $2500 by a Visa credit card. It was already late and they weren't going to finish moving our stuff so we signed the papers with the understanding that we would fight the charges with management. The foreman then
asked for gratuity on top of the $2500 because the movers would have stay overnight; we were stunned. We gave them each $50 and they went to their hotel. The next morning they showed up an hour and a half late, to continue to move our stuff, and the foreman again asked for gratuity for the move. At this point I was furious but felt powerless. I did not tip them again. When they finished
unpacking all of our things, we discovered that they had used many of our pre-purchased boxes inappropriately as packing material instead of placing items in them and then charged us additionally for the boxes their company provided. After the move, we called Summit Van Lines 3 times and had to leave messages on Sigals voicemail. We got the "run around" on the phone and we didn't hear from them again. Finally on April 5, we got ahold of Sigal and explained the situation. She replied that she was appalled and would forward all of the information to her supervisor in a complaint and the company would begin an investigation. She reassured us that the company would do whatever to make us satisfied, including a reimbursement. After no follow-up, we called again on April 13. On April 15 we called once again and demanded to speak to a supervisor, at which time we spoke to David G who said he would have to check with Sigal and the Movers to see if the complaint had been filed. He never called us back, so we called him again on April 19. We expressed our dissatisfaction and said we would report them to the Better Business Bureau to which he replied "we're not even a member you can do whatever you want" I can't believe people like this are still in business. I made the mistake of not finding reviews for Van Lines, don't make the same mistake. There are countless rip off reports involving these same people.
