I was the victim of a classic rip-off. Promises were made on the front end of the estimate from a dishonest estimator who came to my house and sat with us pretending to be a real professional in the business. Little did we know that when my furniture arrived the company would try to charge us excessive fees, deny any missing items and refuse responsibility for damaged furniture and then threaten to leave with our belongings.
The excessive fees were to pay for the cost of what they called crates. These were nothing more than a couple of boards nailed together. When in fact, it had been agreed upon earlier that crating was not necessary. When I refused to pay and protested to the driver that these fees were excesdsive and not in the original estimate they were told to drive the truck, still full with my furniture back to Atlanta. After calling the local police and halting the truck from moving I agreed to a reduced settlment amount. As the furniture was off loadeded I noticed numerous pieces of furniture damaged and legs completly broken off. The driver wrote a report and instructed me to call it in when they left. Once gone I found out more damaged items and that two mountain bicycles were not delivered with the move. When I called in the complaint to the office in Atlanta I was told that any cost they had to pay for the damage done to our furniture would be offset by the reduction they took on the crate. I was further told that the drivers told them that we gave the bicycles to them.
Also, they demanded we pay the invoice before they would unload one stick of furniture. This was done knowing we had a second estimate done at a lower cost once we eliminated many items from the original estimate. Fortunatley my wife caught the scam and once again refused to pay the inflated cost. Again prompting a call to their office while our furniture sat on the truck.
In summary, All My Sons Moving and Storage (dba J's Moving and Storage, Inc) is a disreputable organization. We used them thinking we were contracting with a family run moving company. What we got was an arrogant, untrustworthy, and totally disreptutable organization that is incapable of telling the truth. We were lied to at every step of the process by everyone involved in the move.
Find another moving company because All My Sons of Atlant will mnake this your worst nightmare and you will regret ever contacting them.
