I moved into a new apartment, received my initial bill from USIEnergy but did not receive another bill for 3 months. They included 2 late charges on this bill. Also, I received this bill on the 27th of the month and it was due on the 1st of the next month. This gave me 2 business days to get my check from MN to GA or another late charge would be added.
I called USIEnergy and was told I would still be charged a late fee, even if my check was post-marked before the due date. All they go by is their received date. I asked if I could pay over the internet. They told me I could, but there would be a $3.25 charge. They will not deduct future bill automatically from my checking account stating they are not set up to do this. Of course, why would they be when they are making so much money off of late charges.
They suggested I call the middle of each month to get my current due amount, and send in my check before getting my bill. Are they serious? What an awful company. Unfortunately, I have no choice in who I choose for the services they provide. This company should be investigated by the attorney general in Georgia.
