Newton Walls Bargains? At the price of employee health and mental moral

As an employee of this business I have seen many morally wrong business practices. Merchandise is frequently used and reboxed to appear new, some is posted on Ebay.com for full price although it is used or damaged and purchased for pennies. These items are large ticket items.

Electronics are normally submerged in water, dried out and sold for high ticket amounts, knowing they will only work a short time. Workers must test items that heat up by plugging them in and then touching them with their fingers to verify the heat level.

Employees are treated horribly. They are not allowed to enter or exit the building without a pocket and sock check. No phones, purses or personal items are allowed in the building. The warehouse manager is certain women do not have breasts, just his merchandise in their tops, although you have to pass a drug test and a background check to prove you are law abiding.

Employees are required at all times not to speak. The floors are all concrete and there are no mats as legally required to protect the employees body from harm. They stand there 9 - 12 hours a day. Most are in large amounts of pain soon after shifts start.

The shipments recieved are covered in a thick layer or some kind of black dust like powder, mold, mildew, many unidentifiable things. Employees have no protection from what they are breathing or having skin contact with when these boxes are disturbed. They must wait for the break bell to wash it off their hands.

Wednesday is church day. Church music is played over the speakers. A group of employees meet in the breakroom and visit, pray and lay hands on others in the name of "saving" them. Its a cult. If you are part of it, you get paid to attend such things and relax. You are promoted faster. If you are not a religious person ordo not choose to participate with them then you are required to continue working during their 30 minute-1 hour church service. Standing of course while they are sitting.

While occassionally they do have a honest deal for the consumer, it comes at a very large price to the workers. Workers make no more than minimum wage ($7.25) an hour, no insurance, and treated like drones.

If we had other options in this economy we would all find something else instead of staying at this legalized sweatshop.
