Salt River Solar & Wind
Poor untimely performance affected tax rebate Tucson Meto area

We signed a contract with a very nice salesperson early June. We were told that our system would be installed in Oct (this being an advantagous time as it is when the electric co starts their year on your meter). The payment terms for our portion was to be paid in full significantly prior to the installation date and we did pay in full in June.

The "engineer" was out shortly to workup the drawings and copies were sent to us. Toward the end of Sept we received notice of delay on our panels siting that the manufacturer was behind, this brings up questions on their purchasing department and ordering lag. Our panels were received the second week in November and we were told that they would be scheduled for installation within a couple of days and to contact the scheduler. We called several times to reach the scheduler and Never received a return call. I contacted the owner and was assurred that our panels would be installed and the system would be up and running so that we would recive the paperwork from the electric company to be able to file for our federalrebate for 2010.

Early in Dec I was called and asked if they could deliver the materials, I asked then when installation would happen and was told it would probably be in a couple of days. Approx the end of the second week the installers just showed up with no notice and installed the panels, Christmas week the electrician came back to hook everything up (again with no notice) and told us that the electric company would be notified to come and "commission" the system (put the meters on).

Salt River's own written timeline states that it will take the electric co approx two weeks to inspect and install the meters. We were commisioned in Jan almost 6 months to the day of signing our contract.

We will not receive the necessary paperwork from the electric company to file for our federal tax credit for 2010. This leaves us with paying interest on the money used to pay our portion ofthe contract for an additional year until we can start applying the federal tax credit to our taxes, which will probably take two years minimum to recoup. It is my understanding that they left about 100 customers in this situation.

Salt River exhibited poor performance in their purchasing of the materials, schedulingfor upgrades to electric, installation and customer service.

Would I use them on any of my other homes, definately not. Would I recommend them to anyone, definately not. They are not worth the heart burn.

Our neighbors down the street went with a different company, signed months after we did and had their system up and running within about 30 days.
