Using UPS parcel shipment services at Staples outlets leaves the customer to believe their package will be shipped that day.in my case I needed to get a resume to someone before a cutoff date or be disqualified for a job interview. I have a paper receipt that states my package was accepted before 5pm on 2/20/03 and will be delivered as expected on 2/21/03. As you can see from my customer service correspondence UPS has a different idea even though they are perfectly happy to take your money for services they aren't providing. They also admit to knowing about the problem. I did not receive any refund of my shipping costs and lost out on an interview for a $50K a year job. And as of 12/16/03 I am still unemployed.
I quote from an email I still have from UPS customer service:
Our system indicates the Billing Information was processed on 02/20/03. Your shipper uses a shipping system that electronically transmits their daily log of packages. This daily log is not necessarily a log of what packages will be shipped that same day. It may only indicate that a package with the tracking number listed is being prepared for shipment. This information will automatically appear on our UPS Tracking Web Page at http: //www.ups.com/tracking/tracking.html as Billing Info Received.
Unfortunately, our tracking system provides the scheduled delivery date by reading the Billing Info scan. Our Web site personnel are aware of this concern and are working toward resolving this matter. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience. If we may assist you in the future, please feel free to contact us.
