Yesterday I found a slip that my package needed to be signed for (T-Mobile got smart; instead of leaving at the door and having the phone 'stolen', they require a signature). Since I knew I wouldn't be home at the 're-deliver' time on the slip, I called and they said they would pull it, so I could pick it up.

I was on line today to pick up the package. The person before me was frustrated because she came to pick up her package and it was on the truck, trying to be re-delivered. My turn. Guess what? It wasn't there; it was on the truck to be redelivered. My time said 2-5 PM. I left my house at 4 PM. They noted that they tried at 4:35. I mentioned I called yesterday. The woman looked up on the computer and said she saw the note but she said "I guess they never took it off the truck". I asked when it would be back at the center. She said around 7:30 PM. I asked when they closed; she said 8:30 PM. I came back at 8:15. She looked up my slip and said she would need to check to see if the truck was back. She goes out back and 10 minutes later she returns with the package.

I can't say she was rude. My issue is obviously it is a waste of time to call and make arrangements, because they may note the account but unless the rep is confident it was pulled from the truck, there isn't a guarantee when you get there that it has been pulled from the truck and waiting for you. I had this happen a few years ago and since I usually don't have reason to make these arrangements, I thought it wasn't a regular occurence. But the next chance I had to make these arrangements, it happened again. And I wasn't asking for something out of the ordinary.
