On my most recent VISA statement I noticed two billings from a company called Direct Billing. My cc company could not identify the company. When I Googled the phone number given for them on my statement i found others here who had been billed for nothing. I have the charges in dispute, and will be sending my cc company the relevant pages from this site. My company will eventually refund the charges, no doubt, but in the meantime I would have paid them if I hadn't thought to question the source.
This kind of thing is very similar to full-blown identity theft, and very worrying. How many other people are being victimized by this and similar companies?
