I bought a so-called "wellness" plan for my pet cat. Cat given wrong and very expensive injection for urinary tract infection, and vet didn't even know Cipro - free antibiotic at local supermarket - could be safely and effectively used. Second visit the RECEPTIONIST wanted to order $300 of tests not covered by their "plan" WITHOUT consulting vet. She had no training. I am an MD, PhD with extensive training, and the lab and x-ray tests made no sense. I told her so. Still, no exam/evaluation of animal. She called office manager who told me that the cat absolutely needed the tests. Office manager also had less training than my son (first grader). I said "no tests until I see the vet, " and even though I had an appointment, I sat there, alone (except for my cat), waiting for the vet. No other patients/animals. Vet never came. After 2 hours, was told Vet was "busy" in the back, but wanted the tests. What crap!!! All Banfield wanted was more money; they couldn't care if the cat lived or died. I left in disgust. My contract for services says I should be able to see the vet and get medical (veterinary) care - this was denied me. I called main office to complain, sat on hold, related my story, and "someone" would get back to me. I told the credit card company to cancel and refuse any further bills from Banfield, and the only "investigation" Banfield did was to try to get me to pay for services NOT rendered and refused. They are crooks, liars, thieves. Do NOT take your pet there. ("Yoda" is my cat; he's a purebred Cornish Rex with long ears and my kid thought... He looks like Yoda.)
